so whats the difference between brushed and brushless (maintaince? function? power? ect ect) and i understand you break brushed motors in with water is it so for brushless?

Brushless motors are virtually maintanence free. You don't have to inspect and/or replace brushes, you don't need to cut down commutators and I don't believe you need to break in a brushless motor either. This is due to the fact that there are no contact parts that need to "seat" to one another. Because of the lack of physical contact and the lower weight of the actual moving parts within, brushless motors waste less energy so runtimes are significantly longer. Simply put, brushless motors are much more efficient than their brushed counterparts. Brushless motors do require a speed control that is specifically made for brushless motors. A brushed only ESC will not operate a brushless motor. However, many brushless ESC's will operate a brushed motor. There are also two types of brushless systems; sensored and sensorless. From what I understand sensored systems have an advantage for on-road applications. I have a sensored system in a touring car I'm putting together. I also have a sensorless system in a 1:10 offroad buggy. That buggy is the shizzle.

definately if you have the option go brushless, started brushed in my 3 elec vehicles and got tired of the brushed motors picking debris and whatnot now they are all brushless and I don't have to think about it. plus the power is addicting like crack..:D

Even the cheapo Hobbywing system I put in my old Rusty was an amazing difference from the xl5/12t. It was a 3000kv motor. I over heated the motor and ruined it but it was only $50 for the whole system shipped. I'd have no problem recommending this brand. However, if your funds allow, go for a higher quality system. I believe geared lower and running lipo power through it, I would have been more than satisfied. I over geared it to achieve the top end I was going for.

i totally agree with you on that one syphon 100%, but i don't know about the crack thing. . .but the power is addicting lol

You will never achieve the power and torque of a brushless motor, not with a brushed, and never with a nitro motor.

Brushless is definitely the way to go. It is the most maintenance free way to RC.
