Ok well I was driving and getting a good tune, it would burn out on the gravel and shift and go pretty fast. Then it started acting all funny with the idle, it was as if the idle was set too low and it would stall sometimes when I hit the brakes. Then one time It stalled and never started again. My EZ start battery is dead and charging but what could have gome wrong?

Sounds like it is overheating. Does it fire right back up after it cools for a bit?

If you don't have a temp gun you REALLY should get one.

Well it is a traxxas onboard temp probe. It is only reading 170-180 dagrees.

Those things never work like they should. Do yourself a favor and invest in a 20 dollar temp gun, then take readings from the glow plug like you should. I guarantee that the temps will be at least 30 degrees higher, if not more.

Well in the mean time should I just run without a body or what? maybe a hole or two in the body?

I just installed a VENOM RACING on-board probe, seems to be working alright... Not sure till I do a couple high-speed passes in a moment. Sounds like you need to adjust your idle-screw and LSN until it evens out.

Well its good now. After it cooled Off. So I will get A temp gun but what can I do for now to get the temp down.

I am not a nitro guru by any means but it sounds like it is junning lean, richen it up a little at a time, make sure you got a nice little trail of smoke coming out the exhaust...

I do... I don't know what the problem is. It is pretty agressive cold so it may be slightly lean. I will richen it up.

Ok well I got a good tune But it is with the body off. Will the body change the tune? There is plenty of blue smoke coming out but the body has no holes in it. It is also very close down to the body and it looks like not much air can go through. Should I cut out some of the windshield?maybe the back too?

Don't know if it will help, but I cut holes in the front and rear windows as well as the side. Figured it couldn't really hurt.... LOL

I run my basher bodies with large 2" circular holes directly in front of the engine and cut out the back window of the body to let the air flow through. The engine only runs about 10 degrees hotter with the body on :)

Hey it looks like your having a lot of tuning/temp problems... Sometimes if its a tuning issue or just something simple that you just can't fix you should try to bring it to your hobby shop and he/she will get it running for you in no time.

Yes, richen the LSN and don't expect it to explode out of the gate as soon as you start it. Wander it around and let it warm up, and it should start to pick up performance very nicely without over heating. You still might have to tweak the HSN for WOT, but don't do anything till it's warmed up.

Well I expect it to warm up and perform but when I found it "explode out of the gate" I figured I had it tuned even better. I got it to perform very well without a body, will it perform any less with a body? It seems to perform very well and blue smoke comes out, is it tuned well now? Or a little richer LSN?

Blasting off cold and then getting worse as it warms is too lean. Do any racing cars that you know of get pushed to the line and started the instant they get the go? No, it's an internal combustion engine, and meant to operate at it's best within a specific temperature range. That requires the ideal tune and power curve to be within that range, not stone cold.

I got thanks. It performs very well when warm now and is still blowing blue smoke, it doesn't stall anymore. Is it tuned properly?

Sure, that's what you're looking for. Glad to hear you finally got it.
Just remember, you'll still have to tweak the HSN when the outside temp and humidity changes, but it sounds like the LSN is good to go.
Now go break something on it.
