Tmaxx Tires

Hey guys, just wondering has anyone tried to customize there stock 4910 tires? I was thinking that the just about square edges of the tread are digging in alot and tipping the truck over. I was thinking of trying to trim down and kinda round the edges gradually. Maybe get a little slide instead of digging in? Anyone tried this and or does it help any?

My original Maxx (Back 8ish years ago) I trimmed down the sidelug of the tread and got it about even with the center of the tire and then cut about 1/4" chunks out of every lug every 1/4" to go for more of a knobby tire. All honestly it didnt really work for me but if memory serves me right I did a bit of a hack job on it back then. They are cheap enough on ebay if you screw up. IMO - Go for it!!

So i did it. I cut the outside lugs down and rounded them over with a bench grinder. He said it might have been better but hard to know for sure due to it was kinda wet and muddy out there. so have to wait for a dryer day.

so after a dry out a real good test was done, and we determined it made it alot easier to slide the turns alot more but still has the same take off during acceleration pointing straight, seems good so far. And alot less tip overs.

Actually got bored last night and started trimming up another set. Will post pics ltr but I think it will work nice with the new OS I'm putting in her.

Back in the day when there wasn’t a huge selection of MT tires we use to sipe the stock chevrons to get more side and forward grip to hold and exit the corners better on a track.
It was an improvement but nothing compared to a good set of tires suited for the track conditions.

If you want something to slide more than stock this probably will not help.

Same thing I'm doing now ^^^^^^. I was looking for more straight line grip as opposed to sliding. They are an old pair anyway as I have 4 different sets I use for my Maxx/MGT depending on what/where I'm driving.

I have the Stock Chevron's on my MAXX & I too was thinking of swapping out my MT tires I was looking into Proline Bigjoe's.. But thought it was a huge tire for a 3.3 MT tire & thought it might not be a good idiea to mount em up so I reversed gear's & still in the thought process.. Any thought's from you guy's that a good decent proline wheel combo will work for my MAXX " Oh I think the stock hex is 17mm RIGHT I wont need adpt's " I THINK "

Proline has several different tires available. It would kinda depend on what your doing. Racing I would go with a bowtie or knobby type tire. Bashing I would look at maybe something like the mashers. I like how the Imex dirt dawgs look and hook up for bashing.

All Tmaxx and Emaxx models except for the Emaxx brushless edition come stock with 14mm wheel hexes.
If you already have, or upgrade to the 17mm hexes any of the proline wheels/tires are a great product. It all depends on what type of terrain you will be running on to determine which would be best suited.

those tires look pretty cool. I thought of doin the same thing but just rounded the edges for now. We have a bunch of time on our track and he likes them alot better. U can just sorta drift from center to exit of the corner very well. But still seemed to have descent forward traction during and after the drift and know wheres near as tipsy. So mission accomplished for now, but may do something similar to that if i get bored. Maybe some v notches or something.

Thanks Snook Man & Phins Fan I kinda figured I would have to upgrade to the 17mm hex's my HS has the hex's in stock.. I was looking @ picking up a set of IMEX tires my HS has discounted.. But also looking into a set of Mashers or Flat Iron's "ohh wait thats a crawler tire never mind...
