Well I finnaly got the wiring redone on the Tmaxx and took her out for a few today. The truck did great the first tank of fuel but the next tank it got to where it wouldn't budge. The motor would rev to high heaven but only twitch the tires once and a while. It's pretty much a stock 1-2 year old Tmaxx with a few gallons ran through it. I also could pick the truck up and it would move the tires a hair but no where near what I was reving the motor for. Any ideas on whats going on. The big round gear on the gear box would move also but it seems a little wore out.

Thanks
Ray

Sounds to me like a clutch problem... Did you take the clutch shoes off at all? They could be on backwards. Also, did you take the tranny apart recently?

Tried kicking it real good? :jk:

Sounds to me like the slipper clutch is loose or the spur is stripped. You mention the spur being a bit chewed up, maybe it's enough to cause the problem.

Good luck!

I was having a VERY similar problem and my problem ended up being that there was NO slipper pegs in the spur. Installed them and now it runs like a champ. Maybe check yours make sure they are there and in good shape.

The truck has never had anything worked on it before...except the arms I broke off a few months ago :( I'm guessing the spur gear is causing us the greif...it spins but looks pretty chewed up. It also spins that other shaft on the opisit side of the gear box....the pice of shaft that barely stick out. So I'm guessing the tranny is still good since it appears to be spinning everything inside it. You can also see the clutch or I should say the gear attached to it spining long after the motor is shut off...I'm not sure if that helps.

Well one way or the other, the spur needs replaced, anyone got tips on doing this? I also got a stock replacemnet psur that will be going back on it, if that helps.

Thanks
Ray

Replace the spur and make sure you put new slipper pegs (little red things that go into the holes on the spur).

Nubster, I think you've made the call!

So I can't use the old pegs, does this mean they wear out? If so how do you tell if their wore out. Also, how many do I need in there?

Thanks
Ray

Yes they wear out, so always keep some on hand, or just go to a RRP Dual disc slipper, then you won't need them anymore. But as far as the pegs go, you definately want to run all 12.

Could it just be the spring in front of the spur being overtightened? I had the same probelm when I switch spurs, and that fixed it. (Sorry I dont know the correct name..lol)

Well I replaced the spur using what I had from a Tmaxx parts lot I bought a while back. It's a 70t while the one I replaced was a 72 but this fixed the problem right away. I'm sorry but I used the same pegs since all the hobby shops are closed right now and I wanted to see if that was the problem. I'm pretty sure I took to much off doing it but it wasn't that bad at all. I wasn't able to realy try it out since my wife got on to me for making to much noise for the neighbors lol but the truck moved better than what it did earlier today. I'll post up tomorrow if anything is still wrong.

Thanks for the help guys:thankyou:

Well hell, it started stripping the spur again :whip: I used the same pegs and I'm not sure if I adjusted the spur right. I also unbolted the motor mount to get to the spur...I'm not sure if I got that to tight against the spur either. I bought some new pegs/spur today but haven't had any chance to mess with it. Any tips on adjusting the spur or motor mount?

Thanks
Ray

Put a strip of printer paper in between the spur and the CB gear. Mush tight, just enough slack to pull out the paper strip smoothly. Pull out the strip after tightening the motor mount bolts/nuts.

Oh so that works on nitros also:hammer:

Thats how I do my electric motors like the Mini T :) I just figured the nitros had some weird way to adjust the spur and CB gear with lol So how do I adjust the spring pressure on the spur? Also, I'm not sure if this helps but one side of the spur gear seems melted in a circle near the pegs, not the spring side. I'm guessing my issue is with the pegs more than anything?

Thanks again
Ray

Well, have no answer on the melting issue. Post a pic, I guess. Spur and slipper is adjusted by screwing in the nut all the way and then back off about 1/4 turn. Anymore and it will slip.

Ok I got her taken a part and here is what I was talking about... That is what happened to me first spur gear change :(

I think i can see what is happening. The pegs must be fairly fresh, and you are burning them up because your slipper is not adjusted properly. Tighten the slipper nut all the way in, and then back off 1/4 turn. Also, make sure the pegs are each sticking out the same amount on each side.

Best thing to do long term is get the RRP dual disc slipper.
