i just bought a tmaxx from some sucker down the street for $25. ill admit it needs work.. i already orderd some of the parts that it needs like servos and fuel tank ,rpm a arms, and new bulk heads from traxas.. my question is i want to kno what is the best motor for it.. i want it to be a street truck bcuz i have a savage ss for bashing... (dont care what u say that thing is amazing when it comes to jumping and crashing) I've been looking at a trx 3.3 but i hear ppl say they blow up alot.. so do anybody have any ideas for a motor other than the trx 3.3 let me kno.. my budget for the motor is 120-200

You first need to know what Tmaxx you have. If you have a 2.5 or older truck then the best motor in my opinion would be the os .18. If its the 3.3 version then you can put just about any engine you want to as long as it fits. One way to tell which truck you have is to look at the axles. If the axles have blue boots on them at both ends then you have the 3.3 truck. If you have black axles that have silver 4 way u joints then you have the 2.5 or the 1.5. The os engine can be purchased new for around 175 the very most. A decent .21 or bigger engine is going to be near 200 or more.

IMO - The OS .18 is a solid choice for any Maxx version. Plenty of power/turque and easy to tune. They can be had brand new for $140ish with a pullstart. You would still have to buy a clutch setup and pipe but that would run under$160ish total. For $300ish you can have a truck that can keep up with most of the bigblocks, IMO

ok so its a 2.5 but I'm pretty much building a truck from scratch.. is the 3.3 any good? and also does anybody sell or know how to build a twin engine conversion for the tmaxx ????????? that poop looks crazzzzzyyyyyyyyyy fast!

picco .26 made my old little pro.15 fly. go with this its one of the biggest engines you can on the stock chassis. And its a drop in so it needs the engine and the mount and your running

I have the 3.3 on my revo and a maxx and love them, plenty of power, pretty easy to tune, well at least these ones are. The only thing I've really heard is the connecting rod splitting, but u can by that replacement to beef it up.

I had a 3.3 in my T-Maxx that was really fast, I wanted a little more power so I went to an OS .18 CV-R. Still breaking it in but so far seems faster then the 3.3 with a bit more punch also

Just a suggestion but I would probably shy away from a twin engine setup until you put some time into the hobby. These little engines can sometimes be a bear to tune with just 1 of them let alone 2 at the same time. Dont get me wrong they look cook as hell but probably a tuning nightmare! Honestly doubling the engine doesn't necessarily "double" the speed. It will double the power and be stupid fast but fragile at the same time. Just my .02 Good luck!!
