I've had many problems with my tmaxx 2.5. I have put a new 3.3 on it about a couple months ago and it keeps bending the 2 speed input gear or shaft thingy, the part number is 4992. This is going to be my 3 one this month. Any suggestion why its doing this????? :\:(:\:(:\:(:\

Its actually bending the shaft itself? What are you doing when it happens?

The spur gears tend to appear like they are wobbling.. this is normal. I could create the illusion that the shaft is bent, when it's really not. If your rig is operating smoothly, i wouldnt be concerned with it. If you are breaking teeth off of the spur, you need to properly adjust the gear mesh

Well its the shaft or 4992 because it wobbles like a chicken with its head cutt off. The part will slow bend and will usually last about 2 weeks before i will have to buy a new one, when its bends too much it will also wobble the over internal gears in the transmission and chews up the Primary Gears or 4995.
Foolproof when this happens i just buy a new input shaft and have to put a new primary gear in, so I'm spending money that i usually dont have and when it breaks i usually get the money from my parents.
SteelCityNitro I'm not breaking none of the external parts of the transmission everything is harden steel now cuz i put a 3.3 on a transmission that was ment for a 1.5 or a 2.5 so i first got the 72t harden steel spur gear and so then i start tearing up clutch bells left and right so then i got harden steel clutch bell. So could that effect anything?
Thanks for your comments and replys can't wait to hear others answers or questions :third_place:

You might be running the slipper a little too tight. The 2.5 tranny can handle the 3.3 no problem. Sure all the bearings are good? The clutch bearings and the bearings the shaft rides on?

Everything is good for what i can see and feel theres no noises comin from the bearings. I'm just stumped.

Also I'm trying to find some cheap but good upgrades for my tmaxx 2.5 with a 3.3 on it any ideas

Does it still have reverse? If so i would do an FOC and get rid of it. It takes a lot of rotating mass out of the tranny wich may be contributing to your problem.

Well how much will it cost to get rid of reverse and whats the part number for the set

The part number is 4994X I found one on ebay for 8.50 plus 2.50 for shipping I would post a link but don't know how sorry.

Alright i just broke another primary gear this is going to be my sixth one so i desided that I'm going to buy aluminum gears the output forward gear and the 2 primary gears I've found some really good prices for them i will update once i buy them

Aluminum won't be much, if any, stronger than the plastic ones. If your going to go metal, go with robinson racing steel gears. I still think there is something causing this that isn't to do with the gear strength. Did you do the forward only conversion yet?

I was looking into the forward only and i found that i must buy a part. Just one little part i am amazed. But what do i do with that part once i buy it ??

Take out a bunch of parts that make your tranny weak, install the new shaft and gear, and enjoy new found reliability and smooth take offs.:)

Yep!! Those gears from Robinson are expensive. They run about 90 bucks. The foc costs like 8.50. I would try the foc first.

Well i talk to my local hobby shop dealer and if i get the gears through him it will cost 180 for the metal gears which is out of my range so i might go with the robinson gears of towerhobbies or ebay. Also i looked the foc and i take out all the reverse gears and thats all so i might go with that first. Thanks for your ideas and advice guys

well why not if i do this then i can upgrade to a way better motor with way more power and or maybe a 4 stroke

That fits your username well.:D You should get the motor first, the plastic gears with foc are pretty durable. You can put just about anything behind it and they'll hold for a little while. I just think using metal gears with a 3.3 would be silly since the 3.3 would have to work harder to turn them.
