Well it seems like the truck is bogging down or just not shifting into second gear. I can't put my fingure on whats going on but she just doesn't get up to full speed when I pull the trigger WOT. The hottest I got her up to was 190 but I didn't have much time to do any tunning on her. She did a side ways roll over and died. She never restarted after that in the allowed time I had to mess with it. I'm guessing she flooded in the amount of time it took to get to her to flip her back on her paws. Does anyone have any ideas on why she wouldn't go WOT and how to deal with a flooded truck? In the past I usualy len them over holding while engauging the easy start. Then pulling the glow plug and letting her set. Any help would be greatly appericated!

Thanks
Ray

Yeah, pull the plug and runthe EZ Start a second to push excess fuel out.

Usually if it does not shift to second your are too rich. Might explain the flooding, too. I would start with the HSN and lean it up to an 1/8ththe first time and see what it does. Make sure you make a couple of passes and throttle changes to allow the HSN change to set.

190 with a 2.5 is way rich. Lean it a bit and you will notice a great difference in power and fun!

Hey thanks people.

I pulled the plug a few times with her upside down spinning the fuel out. Then tried her a again with zero luck. She just doesn't want to start now :( I'm still trying to figure out the tuning on these motors...does turning the knob clock wise (right) rich'en or lean the mixture out?

Thanks
Ray

Clockwise leans. BTW, you might have a bad GP. Try a fresh one just to eliminate that as a problem.

Oh, and one more thing (because I've done it as well) make sure that little copper washer is in there and facing the right way. A lot of them have a bit of a bend to them, so when you wrench it down, it compresses and creates a tight seal. I know sometimes I've (A) simply forgotten the damn thing (because, when I turned the rig over to get the fuel out, it magically disappears) and (B) had it in upside down.

While it may not be the ultimate source of your issues, it eliminates some of the obvious ones.

Good luck, man!

Ya, I installed a new GP right off the bat while it was off when I was pumping the juice out of the motor. Now I will say I make sure it's got the copper gasket but I haven't thought about the dirrection of the bend on it inconjuction to the head. I'll have to double check that. The other thing I did was tighting the idle screw all the way down ( clock wise)and then back it off a few turns. I was thought this would get some kind of basic tune going so I could get her started but no luck. She just seems to want to flood all the time :(

She lives but barely

Well I took her and the Revo to the race track today....I was going to stick the Revo on the track but chickened out lol

The Tmaxx started right up...the Revo took a few minutes which was weird:ponder2: Anyways, the Tmaxx was able to start but still wasn't able to get up to speed. She would die everytime we went full throttle. We started working on the tune some but only got up up to 150 degrees. Then my friend gave up and packed her up. I think he was more interrested in racing his Lightning than the Nitros lol So does anyone have a clue as to what would just simply kill the engine as soon as you pulled the trigger to go full throttle? I'm running out of ideas but wonder if it's still running way to rich:ponder2:

Thanks
Ray

Ray, are you sure it is too rich? What symptoms did it give right before it died on full throttle?

I'm really not sure if it's rich or if something else is wrong. It simply dies as soon as you pull the trigger more than 1/2 way. If you keep it pulled around 1/4 - 1/2 it will cruise around pretty good but dies if you pull the throttle any futher :( Is there a way the transmession could be doing this or the slipper clutch is messed up?

Thanks
Ray

No, that is a tuning issue. Sounds like it is too lean, though. Does it splutter after half throttle or just quit?

If it just quits or makes a stutter sound just before it does, it is too lean. Open up the HSN but only a bit.

I'm also wondering if the LSN is too lean, since you can go at 1/4 to 1/2 but flame out when you jump on it. Have you guys gone back to factory settings on the needles? If that still doesn't work, I'd suggest pulling the mill, cleaning it really good and putting RTV sealant on the carb. throat and backplate, just to seal that sucker up good! While you're at it, I'd check for air leaks as well in the tank and fuel lines and make sure the tank lid is sealing tightly.

Just some ideas! Rancher has you on the right path, of course.

There goes that terminology again lol j/k with ya MW :)

OK is the needles inside the carb and controlled that little knob by the carb?

Also what is the factory settings and how do I get it set to them?

Thanks

Hopefully, these articles get you on the right path. My apologies for the terminology.

It's for my own good MW, I mean I gotta learn this stuff sooner or later right ;)

Anyways, thanks for the links, I'll get to reading up on this stuff and see what happens. It does makes sence that she's running lean but we want know until I figure out what I'm doing. I'll post up what I figure out soon.

Thank
Ray

You guys are life Savers !!!

Well it turns out the truck was very lean. I read up on the link MW posted and turned the HSN knob back to stock settings. The Tmaxx came to life like a brand new truck right off the bat ! I ran her pretty hard up and down the street and no bogging or dieing. I shut her off pretty quick after that since that is how I smashed her that last time. Damn I got all three trucks ( Revo, Tmaxx, and Mini T) working at one time...it's probaly going to rain tomorrow uh lol

Thanks people :thankyou:
