Ok so as some of you may have read in my earlier post my nitro 4-tec's trx3.3 motor is blown. so i was thinking of putting my tmaxx's 3.3 (still fairly new, under 1 gal.) into the 4-tec and buying a new engine for my tmaxx. i was looking into the OS .21 because i have heard many good things about the OS engines. I have heard that the added power has torn apart some trannys, and other parts. Is it REALLY that much more power from the 3.3's .20 to the OS's .21? i want to upgrade the engine to get a little more power from the truck but i do not want to spend extra money on other new parts if its going to be that much strain on them, considering the OS cost well over $200. Is it worth the extra money for the power or should i just stick with the 3.3 which is just over $100. i mean if there isnt a great amount of power difference then i could buy 2 3.3 for the price of one .21. or is there any other suggestions? just wanted to get some other oppinions on the matter. lemme know what you guys think....THANKS!

You could look at the picco .26, bit cheaper than then os and plenty of power
I guess its all in how you drive your truck to how long your driveline with a properly set slipper you shouldnt have too many problems
I have been running a rb tm523 in my maxx for about 4 years and in that time I've gone through a few diffs and 1 set of trans gears and have done about 10 gallons

Not sure why people complain the 3.3 has not enough power I have had several trucks with the 3.3 and they def put out solid power, and been plenty reliable. If you want serious power I agree the Picco's are awsome, I currently have a Maxx with a .26 Picco red dot engine running a Big block pipe. They seem to run better that way and tune way easier.

So i went ahead and bought another 3.3. Found one NIB on ebay for $98. Figured since i will be getting taxes back soon i can pick up the picco .26 then and maybe a few other upgrades I.E. driveline, etc.

Dynamite makes a .19 engine that is a direct replacement for the tmaxx. It's only $85

i to will be upgradeing to either a Picco or Os this spring, are either more dependable and or easy to keep in tune?

Picco engines can be a tad picky some times. All I know every Picco I have had put down serious power. I can say the Picco .21 engine I have in a revo outperforms my .26 Picco. I think the break in process is a little difficult with the Picco engines but thats just me prob. I do not think the .21 Picco's are still in production I have one extra left with mount for a Tmaxx.

I laughed so hard my side is hurting...:hehe:

Why the dislike of Traxxas engine Snook!

Yah I can't entirely disagree with that. I personally have had good luck with most of my traxxas engines. My bro on the other hand hates traxxas all together. He made a switch to Hpi. I do like the Savage trucks also. But I will always be a Traxxas guy!

I put a Losi 3.4 in my T MAXX and it's a beast. Took some slight mods but went in without a problem. Nice thing is I also put the losi R.O.S.S. in it.

I'm dissapointed in the .26 picco high end. Low to midrange is real nice! But hey the maxx is not made for speed. Plus putting/fitting a well working exhaust is a PITA. My vote is OS .21

Actually my picco .26 has plenty top end power for me. I just installed a THS 1/8 scale pipe without a hitch and she runs so much better than with the traxxas resonator. Also for better fitment i found that the manifold off a savage x works better than the ofna u shaped i had on it. So i ordered a THS manifold for savage to match the pipe i have on it now. Will post some pics as soon as its installed on my "UPGRADES TO MAXX" thread.
