Found this tmaxx about three weeks ago. When talking with the owner he had taken it in on trade and knew nothing about it. Except he couldn’t get it to start.
I gave him what he was asking figuring I’d have to rebuild the motor.
Once I received the truck I realized that the motor was gunned up and his ex start wouldn’t turn it over. So, I removed the motor, cleaned the tank, disassembled the motor and cleaned it. It was gunned up bad. And, put a new one way bearing in it.
I just got everything back together about 11 this morning, primed it and it fired right up. The motor has never been run from what I can tell.
It’s nice to get ahead on a used nitro. Fully expecting too have to rebuild this one but the pinch, Rod, and bearings are so tight I’m sure this is the first time it’s ever run. The piston had zero discoloration on it. Zero.
I’m pretty dang pumped. I put a new air filter on it, a new carb as I had one, cleaned everything good, and plan on breaking it in this evening or tomorrow. Going to run this stock beater body on it as I’m keeping this one totally stock.
