I just completely rebuilt the front end of my Tmaxx 3.3 with aluminum. After completing the toe alignment I noticed tonight when I push the front end down the front wheels toe awaw from each other at the front and close to each other at the rear of the tire. I can't remember if this was the way it was when the truck was stock. Something tells me it wasn't. I checked to see if I had all the likage connected correctly and it is. How do I adjust the toe links so as not to have this problem?

Thanks

It sounds like you installed your tie rods on top instead of on the bottom of the steering arms.
Look in your manual. I'm sure that's your problem.

Tie rods

Tie rods on the steering knuckle have a short top and a longer bottom. Should it be the opposite with the longer part on the top and the shorter on the bottom? Have I installed them on the black steering knuckle upside down?

Thanks

This is what you need to do...

Tmaxx

Mine is a Tmaxx 3.3. It's a completely different setup than the picture above

Is it possible to setup the Tmaxx with the tie rod upside down? My alignment is incorrect.

See above

Thanks
Chris

I went to a friend's house and looked at his Tmaxx front end. His tie rod is completely screwed in on the right and two threads showing both in the inside and outside of the left tie rod. I tried that any many other camber and toe adjustments. No matter what I try when I push down on the front end The leading of the tires go farther apart and the trailing edges of the tires get closert to each other. Is there a setup procedure for wheel alignments? If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Rolex I appreciate your help but there is no top and bottom to installing a Tmaxx toe rod. If you have any other suggestions I would be grateful. (AND END THE FRUSTRATION !!!)

My T-Maxx toes outward just a tiny bit when I push the front end all the way down. And Rolex must be thinking of the old T-Maxx knuckles, as the new ones tie-rod ends slip in between a top and bottom on the knuckles and steering linkage (no way to get that wrong). The A-arms have little clips that slip onto the pins, between the A-arms and bulkheads, that hold them in place. So they don't move forward and back. How bad is the toe getting outa wack?

Also... how is the alignment of the steering linkage when you have the wheels pointing straight ahead? If the steering linkage is off to one side and you have the tie-rods set to compansate, that could be a problem as well.

And the knuckles could be backwards.... they should have the connecting point for the tie-rods on the low side of them.

I just replaced the steering knuckles. Man do I feel stupid. I put them on upside down. Everything is right as rain. I put them on properly last night and everything's perfect. Thanks guys for you assistance and patience with a newbie dummy...
