I have a 2.5 tmaxx and was wondering what it would take and cost to turn it into a 3.3 so I can use some newer parts and stop shopping around for 2.5 parts. Thank you to any responses.

well, the options are limitless. you can change the tranny, axles, engine, chassis plate for about 200 bucks if you use ebay. i did this myself about a month ago

forgot to mention the newer style bulkheads and skids, they arent required but they are a lot stronger

the conversion is quite simple, but you will need to update your entire drive train as the torque of the 3.3 will destroy the 2.5 stock equipment.

It will snap axles pretty quick. Upgrade as you go. The 2.5 tranny is fine.

Can I upgrade the drive tran without going to the new extended chassis?

Yes agreed on drive train problems eventually. But for now you will be able to just drop the 3.3 in place break it in and have some fun till it does start breaking stuff from torque. Then you will want to start upgrading to the extended chassis 3.3 version which i did and with a total cost off ebay of like $180 after all was done and totaled up. Well worth it too!

Get your parts from dollarhobbyz. A hell of a lot cheaper than anywhere else. They buy a complete car and strip it down and end up making a bit more money off it in parts but the parts are still cheaper than other stores. Iv bought from here before and very happy. You can also put the e-revo diffs in I stead of stock revo, they have harder gears incase u decide to put a bigger motor in in the future.

I've looked at it and was wondering how I could make my 2.5 handle 3.3 or a .21 engine power without going all the way and converting to a 3.3?

I ran a 3.3 in a little Rustler and never broke the driveline . . . the T-max driveline is much more heavy duty than the Rustler (driveshafts etc).

Just pop in a 3.3 and replace the bits if and when they break. I think you will find that the standard driveline will handle the 3.3 no problems at all. It's all a matter of how you use and maintain your car .

Thanks Punisher and does anyone know if and when a new tmaxx is coming out. I was wondering if it would be in a year because then I would run my 2.5 till then and then upgrade to the new car. Or a savage maybe.

I believe the bearings would be different...but if you have the CVDs or drivelines for the 3.3 diffs...I believe it will work.

Well if I buy the whole diff and not just the insides will it work. And also does anyone know of any other tmaxx chop shops.

I'll look at mine in the morning...I think I have one an older Maxx that I put the 3.3 diffs and drive shafts in.

What kind of chop shops you looking for? Somewhere you can mail yours off to in order to get some custom mods done? I'll check around...its been a minute since I outsourced. Lol

You do NOT need to switch to extended chassis. You can slap a 3.3 on a 2.5 your gonna start breaking axles. Upgrade them to 3.3 when they break. DONE.

Yes the 3.3 whole diffs will work. If you buy the whole assembly but 2.5 diff internals are different than 3.3.
