good evening ,i just called traxxas to ask them this and they had no idea what to tell me other then these set screws on the forward/reverse gears are set from factory ,(via computer to set tension),i am sure someone has reset theres and can gimme a idea on where to reset mine ,i relize they may jump alittle upon throttling up for the firsttime,,but the ratching sound and 1/2 throttle hookup and jumping like crazy just aint cool ...
please someone tell me what to set these at so i can get it back together and running again ,

any help you be gratefully accepted ,,
take care
rick

i had an extra reverse laying around so i tryed to figure it out for you. i took the screw and tightened it, it took 4 1/2 full rotations, meaning stock setting is 4 1/2 from closed. the only problem is after i returned the screw to stock location the arm wouldn't move still, cause tightening it ruined the gear. then i took it from the stock position and loosened it until the screw came out, it took 4 turns. you could try that way to see if you have better luck, but for 7 dollars a gear its probably easier to buy new ones!

I'll assume this is a relatively new Maxx? Maxxes have had that reputation when they're new. The tranny works on an internal clutch. So not only do you have the clutch on the engine that has to engage, you also have to get the revs high enough through the tranny to get that clutch to engage. When the tranny is new and hasn't been run much, the tranny does jerk at low revs. As you break in the drivetrain that gets better. It won't go away entirely, but will get better. If you want it gone completely and don't mind getting rid of reverse, a Forward Only Conversion (FOC) will solve that instantly.

it is a year old and i am reinstalling the reverse ,i ran it tonight and it jerked to beat the band ,i thought it was the gears to ,,assuming they were like a 2 speed were adjustable ,i guess not ,,called traxxas and they said they are set from factory via computer for the spring tension ,,
not sure how strong the arms on the gears are to spring back or how easy the spring out ,and i had a helluva time getting it too even move ,,1/2 throttle atleast and jumped like crazy ,,dont like that ,,,if its going ot cause me this much trouble i will just convert it back to FOC ,,but i want reverse,,lol
