I have a Tmaxx 2.5 wit about a gallon and half of fuel through it. I broke it in with Traxxas top fuel 20% and then switched to Odonald 20% fuel. it has been running fine but lately been over heating a lot like the motor starting to smoke, now today it had a lot of truck to move the truck but the motor's rpm would speed up when i hit the throttle. Is my motor blown, was it caused by switching fuels? Idk wat to do next either rebuild or do the motor trade plan.

I don't think the engine is blown....Did you mean to say it took a lot of throttle to move the truck?

If the engine is revving and the truck is moving slow you need to check the slipper clutch or the clutch shoes, sounds like something is slipping. Either one will make the engine run hot.

Ya i did sorry abut that.... ya i mean when i am running the motor it sounds find but it just starts smoking and i run it with the top off bc i wanna get the air in as much as possible. How do u check for those other things.

Using different brand fuels would that effect the performance or life of the motor? I was told O'Donald fuel was better then traxxas

It sounds like a air leak if I am getting you right .You are riching it up to kill of the heat and flooding the engine. Try to check for air leaks and go back to stock settings. You might need to change out your o rings. You can also use rtv but I normally feel myself like using RTV is only a bandaid.

Sorry I missed that you stated the motor rpm did come up to speed the slipper clutch is definitely the problem.

ok thanx i will look at that. i am just glad it doesn't sound like a blown motor. Bc i was blowning glow plugs pretty quickly and a local hobby shop said the next thing was to take the motor a part... personal id rather do it myself then pay them watever it is for them to take it apart but we will i see.

top fuel is the BEST for traxxas products. it has a lot of oil in it and keeps the TRX engines well lubricated. so try switching back to top fuel and richining the fuel mixture like an 8th if a turn at a time(h-speed). and if you're willing to spend like $50 get the PowerTune cooling head. It makes the truck run a lot cooler.

you need to tune your motor rich
+ run something good with a little more oil, odenells is good for big engines
i say run top fuel it is actually a decent gas and make that motor run better
my 2.5 never ran good with anything else besides top fuel and xtm gas
