I just bought a tmaxx .15 in excellent shape off Craigslist for cheap. Its in excellent shape.
After i clean the gas tank and degummed the carb and got it running it wont Drive forward it only drives in reverse. I took apart the transmission and i dont see anything broken.....
Any ideas?

If it will go in reverse but not forward it prob has something to do with the reverse portion of the tranny if i were u i would put a foc in it and be done with it makes the tranny much more reliable and stronger

could it be possible the engine could run in reverse if the one way bearing is in backwards?
does it change gear when the engine is off? or does it get stuck in gear when the engine is idling? that happened on my traxxas either too high idle or the gear pawls are too loose causing it to engage in low rpms.

can't be the one way bearing or else he wouldnt be able to start the motor unless he is using a bump box then it still wouldnt start bc the bearing would be stopping the crank shaft from turning

If the truck will move in reverse but not forward it is going to be the reverse gear in the tranny.
Does the servo to switch it into reverse move in and out as it should

Also like babi-hrse said,if your idle is to high it won't switch between fwd/rev,the servo will Still move .

Yes it seems the servo is working fine to me :( However i just put all back together for the 2nd time and there is no change... makes me think the forward gear is messed up.. But i am not exactly sure... i guess i will bring it to the local hobby shop and have them take a peak thanks for the help and suggestions

Try lowering your idle before you waste gasoline ,when you remove the airfilter look into the carburator and with the throttle closed you should have a small gap of no more than 1mm,

For the transmission to switch into forward the spur can't be moving which sometimes lowering your idle will fix as hotrod said. if it is moving it can't be much and sometimes it still wont switch with it moving just a little. i had your problem with my max when i bought it from a guy used. It was stuck in forward and wouldnt go in reverse only sometimes it would but do yourself a favor and spend the 15 or 20 bucks on the forward only conversion its so much easier on the drive line

If it's not a high idle causing it, it could be the throw on the servo not going far enough to shift out of reverse and into forward.
With the engine off, shift it manually and restart the engine and see if it now goes forward.

+1 good advice

Be sure forward clutch is not stuck in tranny. Wd40 works well. Mabye loosen the tension spring.FOC
kit will fix the prob as posted.

If i were u and youve exhausted the servo no moving far enough and the spur gear still moving from a high idle id pull the tranny apart and give the reverse gear a good look over if you dont see anything wrong and it still does them same when u put it back together, if u want reverse replace the reverse gear if you dont put a foc in i would highly recommend the foc tho reverse will always be that trannys weakest link

So for a update on the problem... I brought it to the hobby shop and they guy said there is a couple springs in there that were dislodged and that a few pieces would not slide in and out because of it. Worked great until the motor blew :( But its time for a big block :)

its gas that nearly every comment is like advice advice suggestion and then its like ps put a foc in do it do it now. i love my foc but some here might like having reverse even if it complicates and weakens the transmission.

This started life as a. 15. After A LOT of money it's now this.
