I have a tmax with a 3.3 in it and it was broke in by the book no problems. I was running it one day engine temp was normal and good smoke coming out and it quite all at once and haven't been able to get it to turn over since. Wondering if any body has and ideas or should I trade the engine in for new one.

smoke means to rich it should only smoke when at full throttle if tuned correctly. and if its to rich i can be flooded.

Have you tried the basics ? - New glowplug, fresh fuel, reset to the factory tune? If none of these work you may need to split the motor open for a deeper look. The con rod is a known weakspot. If you try to start it do you still get the pop from the compression or nothing?

Can you turn the flywheel with the plug out? Did you use after run oil when you put it away the last time?

I can't remember if I used after run oil or not and no u can't turn flywheel by hand

If you can’t turn the flywheel by hand, you need to disassemble the engine and have a look inside.

Well I took the engine apart and the piston was in pieces and rod was broke so I did a trade in for 115$ got new one I have not broke it in yet.

Seal it before anything and break it in with the heat cycle method. Throwing some quality bearings in it before the first run is a good idea too.

Do a search for Engine Sealing. You will find good instructions and pics to show you. It is basically RTV high temp silicone being applied to any place the engine can suck air from and run lean, hot and be dam near impossible to tune. Areas like the base of the carb and the back plate. It seems though it can happen anytime, not always right from the getgo.
