Hey guys, I broke in my TM323 on Memorial day, I've been dialing in the Two speed cause second wasn't kicking in. I got a chance to dial that in on Sunday, I had the damn thing flying over at Eldorado Park. After an hour of running the T-Maxx on and off I ran in on a paved bike line. I had an audience like no other, you know how it is  , as the truck passed me up in second gear T.W.O., it made a loud thump type noise and died. The temp was 212 F. Had half a tank of Nitro (20% Blue Thunder)
I notice that the glow plug had come lose. (The engine never got over 220)
I go to start the darn thing up, and it sounded like there was no compression, then the compression seemed to fade in and out. I wasn't able to star the engine. It would also make a popping type sound as I tried to start it.
Monday, I give it a try, and the same thing, sputtering and fading of the compression, I fanally got it to start, but had a hell of a time keeping it running. Now I have to open the throttle a bit to get it to start, were as it would start emmidiately on the first push of the EZ-Start button.
I took the head off, noticed a dark spot in the center of the piston head, the sleeve had a bit of discoloration around the middle all the way around, but no scratches, perfectly smooth.
It runs like a bat outta hell, again, but have a hella time starting it.
(I'm also using a glow plug lighter with a new 1.5V lantern style battery)
Any help will be greatly appreciated, sorry for the essay.

Are you still getting a good smoke trail when you're running it? My initial suggestions would be to set your needles back to factory and to check for air leaks (carb throat, back plate, fuel lines and fuel tank). Have you sealed the engine with RTV sealant yet? If you haven't, I'd do that first and foremost and go ahead and replace the fuel lines. Check the O-ring on the tank lid and make sure it's in good shape. Once you get it sealed up, set the needles back to factory, changed the fuel lines and insured the tank seal is good, get a BRAND NEW glow plug and give it a shot.

Good luck!

MW seems to be sober today, giving good advice... LOL Does it idle normally after it starts now? I have noticed that the dark spot on the piston means the engine is running a little rich. It will polish right off with a dremel polishing head, if you feel it needs to be clean. Get the sensor safe RTV (it should be blue in color).

I still haven't gotten a dead mill yet. Keep asking but nobody wants to send me one.

besides the pro .15 from jmarzill

First off, thanx for all of the feedback,
The Smoke trail is ok, I went ahead and applied the sensor safe RTV on the Carb. Replaced the fuel line, the pressure line and I cleaned the fuel filter (it was clean though). The O-ring on the fuel tank lid was shot on one side so I replaced it, replaced the plug again with an RB plug.

Once the engine starts, it idles and runs fine, I will polish the top of the piston to get rid of the dark spot next. The needles have been turned back to factory settings.

I took the truck over to Mario at Speed Shop in Hawthorne (where I bought it) He had a hell of a time getting it to start. (I was leery of it cranking right up and making me feel dumb.:hehe: ) The new 1.5V lantern style battery I bought for the glow plug ignitor wasn't lighting up the glow plug well, for some reason. It was pushing 1.91V. Mario plugged in a single rechargable C-cell to the plug pushing 1.2V) and the damn thing fired right up (after I did everything you guys suggested). I switched back to my 1.5V and nothing, the stupid single C-cell got it running at the first push of the EZ-Start. :breakdown

Thanx vbgagnon, Monkey Wrench, and .21Rc10Gt.

Now, I'm having issues with my .18 Sirio in my other T-Maxx. It starts up fine, idles good, it's running a turbo plug. The issue is that it stalls under full throttle. I went ahead and did everything you guys suggested I do to the .23 to the.18. No luck though:ponder2: Any Feedback on this one?........ Thanx once again.:ponder2:
