Sup guys,

I've been bending allot of pins on my stock shocks and I was curious if the titanium nitride pins really don't bend as easy as the steal ones do??

I was hoping that I could find some actual solid titanium pins to rebuild my shocks with as the stock ones are getting really annoying (they don't like big jumps) but the only thing I've been able to find is the Nitrid coated pins from Traxxas (the same ones they use on the Big Bore Traxxas shocks).

Peace

BTW Traxxas sells the Titanium nitride coated pins for $10.00 to do all the shocks presumably and while it would be a pain in the ass to install them I have to take all my shocks off to put on new shock socks anyway. These are the bad ass shock socks I bought www.badhorsie.com

Sup bro,

They're right their on the front page.......They list them as "Shock covers" and they have free shipping. My buddy who romps the hell out of his T-maxx and Savage in the dirt and mud says they're the best covers he's ever used. He even likes them more then the popular european (can't remember what country...lol) covers that are on permanent backorder.

Peace

i had just got some of those in and have yet too put them on my truck but they look sweet.

If your bending shock shafts that much why dont you look into getting some stiffer springs and moving "down" a bit on the weight oil your using. If you put 200Wt oil in your shocks and take a huge jump your gonna bend a shaft....

Thanks for help guys but does anyone KNOW if the coated shocks are allot stronger then the stock pins??

Rodriguez - Gratsi for the 411....I think I'm gonna try that with stronger pins/shafts.

Peace and TIA

Well I answered my own question. With some research and by talking to some other RC pros, they all say the say that the nitride coated pins AREN'T any stronger then the regular pins but the coating doesn't wear off as fast as the regular pins.

Peace

I was bendin pins like crazy. I've got the Big Bores since then and I'm happy. So far no bends. A good investment (for the parts and time)

However,

A good sense of what is going to bend the shaft in the first place comes for free and will last longer than the titanium coating. When you go from 40 Mph to 0 in less than a second, it ALL bends!

(get titanium)

30%NitroBoy is right. solid titanium is a LOT stronger than the steel, but the titanium nitride coated shafts are not solid titainuim they are just steel coated with a thin layer of the stronger titanium. it does not really make them stronger it just makes the shafts more resistant to getting scored and sratched thus making them last much longer and making the shock stroke much smoother. i have never seen solid titanium shafts but i bet they would be kickass. but if i was you i would just get a new set of shocks all together thats what most people do as thier first big upgrade anyway, and there are lots of good sets out there
