What could anyone suggest for 2.8" rear tires for all around bashing? Mostly grass and a little pavement.

Well if you stay 2.8 your limited in your choices. You have the stock Traxxas offerings, and Imex makes a few rires in 2.8. They also have rims if you want something other than Traxxas rims.
