The tires and rims on the wife's Savage 25 and my Savage X are looking pretty shabby. This sparked the weekend project. The cold temperatures and snow solidified it. After boiling, baking and the acetone soak the tires are off. A little love with the tooth brush and the flaking paint and chrome are gone too. Then came the RIT dye, purple for the wife and orange for the X. I'll post pics tomorrow.

Here is the dilemma...... I love the size of the stock HPI tires. 6.3" I like the monster truck look better then the truggy look. What tires do you like and why? Is there a noticeable difference in running proline vs the stock hpi? 1/2 inch right? If some one has a pic of them side by side that would be great. I also read the foam makes a big difference, Does it? What about buying HPI tires and upgrading the foam?

I run mostly off raod (bashing) with the occasional trip to the skate park and around the block.

Here are some pictures.

I love Proline Mashers. Good all around traction on every type of surface and they wear great. Not quite sure what the O.D. is or exactly what's available as far as rim sizes. Check out proline.com for details and specs.

re:"Here are som..."

cool.Istillhave my stock wheels and tires, they havnt got torn off the rims yet!

I also run the stock tires, although I did put in better inserts; now my tires don't balloon up at high speed.

Big Joes, reasons should be obvious :) height wise no difference really but at least 3/4" wider

the zombies are a wicked tire. I had them on my revo. they are super soft though and you will have to "belt" them with duct tape. I had a set of racing foams in one rig, that made a huge difference. they were a 3 piece foam that you glued together. hard in the middle and softer on the sides. I want to say traxxas made them, but it has been years ago.
