Ok my temps are anything from 211-238. I was using a temp gun also. Ok here is my deal: my truck is running a ok/kinda high temp, but bogging out the hole real bad, sometimes it knocks off. I'm kinda new to this and dont really understand the whole tuning thing 100%, but I'm not completly dumb. Will someone help me out if they can?

First welcome to RCNT

211 238 is to low of temp IMO..lean out the hsn an 1/8 of a turn and get your temps up to around 280.after you get your temp up then you can adjust your lsn to get the punch on the bottom end..

if ur tired of tuning already, then ur 'tuning' 2 much. get her up 2 temp and listen 2 how the engine sounds. it will tell u, pull ur glow plug, it will tell you. after its warm, make a small adj on the lowend run around 1-2min. see what happens. dont adj when its cold, dont make a change w/o running 1-2min, dont go by the temp. listen how the engine runs and how it accelerates (time it between 2 chalk lines 4 example), and if it runs at 275 or 245 or 260. if thats where it runs its best, let her go.

be prepared 2 give a lil adj on ur high needle (which affects everythin actually, even the lowend a lil) here and there dependin on weather. w/o gettin into barometer, humidity, elevation etc....basically if outside temp gets cooler, u must richen it a lil. gets warmer, u'll need 2 lean it a lil potentially. not the other way around.

get the nitro engine guide book and read it end to end, or get the dvd version and watch it thoroughly. it will make life much easier. lil tuning is goin 2 b a part of ur daily routine w/it...but 2 much needle work make things worse.

4 instance today, the people who did very few needle adj's, basically 4 the day or new er cars finally gettin 2 lean out, ran like clockwork. people who were turnin those things more than they were drivin were constistantly frustrated by the car and its workin. and i will say that more than a couple new motors there were sufferin from early, excessive, or just inappropriate tuning and thus the owner will suffer later when the thing quits. make sure ur air filter is clean 4 consistant running. some of these folks didnt seem 2 bother w/that either.

could see 1 or 2 of them almost snear at me b/c my truck runs like clockwork and only need a lil adj here and there w/the weather, so much so that i take long breaks and go help others instead by i like doin that. i got a revo and smaxx runnin like clockwork 4 some young new r/c'ers. very lil work couple laps, temp chk and a listen, had the revo running 200 (less than 1/2 dozen tanks, bringin it up slow) and the smaxx runnin about 240-250 b4 tank emptied. both of those trucks are not gettin pushed super hard around the track. their takin my advice and help in goin slower and makin laps, gettin faster and faster slowly but surely. now i have them outrunnin per tank many trucks out there tryin much harder.

good luck.

kinda hard to *listen* when I dont know what I am listening for. I need to just sit back relax alittle and do things slow. Man everytime I thought i had it running good it would run for 5-10 mins then start to bog/cut off. I dunno I'll get her figured out tomorrow before I race it, but thanks so much for that lengthy post. I really am glad that someone took the time to help a newb out. I tune 600hp trucks, and 700hp cars but can't handle a 2hp r/c car......weird huh

Try what I said adjust your hsn when your happy with the performance on the high end adjust your lsn to get your punch..you can't go wrong...NO dog and pony show here!!

just relaxing is the key, adjust your needles in small incraments and be patient thats the big thing i had to learn. Someone told me on here if your playing w/ your rc vhicle you dont have anywhere to go so take your time and do tings right and dont be in such a rush. I would try and rush it get frustrated, but when i relaxed and took my time it all worked out. Also if your at a track with other rc vhicles taht are running great watch the car and notice all the things its doing how much smoke is coming out of the exhaust, what it sounds like, etc then you can use those things to help you tune your car/truck. Sorry for another long post, jsut trying to help ya out

no me likey long post. The longer the post the more for me to learn. Well I will be at a track built at a friends house. I have a nice size peice of land that could hold a nice track on it, and I think I am going to build it up in the months and invite people that is close by to come and run on it with me. From what I hear there is not to many monster truck tracks in NC, none around me at all just one that I know of and it is in the mountains and I am living 200yds from the ocean.

Not quite sure what you mean. I did what I thought was the best at tuning this truck, but it still is not running no where near like what I have been seeing on videos, or running like I've heard. So I thought I would get on here and see if some nice people would maybe "teach" me in a way. I followed my book, and some friends advice who had a fast tmaxx, even my cousin who bought a revo helped me as I helped him did the trucks the same way as far as the steps we took in tuning it, and his is faster than mine. So I am trying to learn how to tune it by talking to ya'll. So that would mean I am taking the time to learn.

WHAT? I joined this forum for the Ponies.

The low end punch is in the LSN. If it bogs at takeoff, you need to lean out that needle. Just do it 1/16 turn at a time. Go too far with it, and it will overheat your engine. If it bogs at WOT, that's when you lean the HSN. If it dies quick, you need to richen it.
Take your time, and watch for a trail of smoke at all times.
Don't try to get the temp to max operating temps if it's cold out. You will deprive the engine of oil. Just get it to run good.

Ok guys figure I could atleast let you know how things went. Had little problem with it started, got flooded. Cleared out the motor and it fired up, ran it for about 5 minutes pulled it in leaned the hsn out 3/16 of a turn man it was screaming. Leaned the lsn out about 1/8. Anyone that says wheelies on a stock revo is not possible is ohhh so wrong. I do have one more ? for ya'll. How do you keep it from flipping over backwards so fast? LoL
