When I rev the engine, the tires inflate! Do I need to drill holes into the rims or did i glue the tires on wrong?

they inflate or balloon? if the wheel is spinning fast, the rubber expands. foams don't do that. if you had a buggy or monster truck you get used to it

its what rubber tires to at high speeds. my savage tires get 2-3 times the size at 40 mph on the road

tyre choice

When a soft tyre sits still it has a small dia, as you increase the revs( at a given tyre load) the tyre will increase in Dia, however its contact patch with the ground decreases so it can't put as much traction to the ground. When you take off the traction required is greater than when you are at speed so this is usually not an issue. It also increases your speed as the tyre expands. So putting it in racing terms as you start off you have lower gearing which gives you better torque(pulling power) and as you increase speed the tyres sizes increases giving you higher gearing and conversely higher speed for a given tyre choice.. If you use a hard tyre it doesn't change as much and so there is less difference between take off dia and full speed dia.
Hope this helps.:)
