to tint the windows , is it just a matter of painting it black? or is there something else i would use to tint the windows

There are several ways you could do it. You could use Pactra window tint in a rattle can, it is very difficult to use though. You can also use black or charcoal and thin it alot, then spray a very very light coat.

If you have an airbrush, use Pactra Acryls Transparent Smoke. Its the easiest to spray and works great.

Are you the same HauntedMyst from the absolute best painting guide I have ever read? If so, that is great! Please stick around and share your painting knowledge here, either way welcome to RCNT.

HOLY CRAP!!!! HauntedMyst is here!!!!! I can't believe this! Welcome to our board. Gentlemen, we are in the presence of greatness. It's good to see you here. I look forward to your great insight...

Go to the auto parts store and buy a small sheet of the window tint film. Use your window masks as a template to cut them out and after you finish painting your body peel back the lining and apply it to the body. I use just a couple of drops of soapy water so I can adjust it. Don't use alot since most r/c paint is water based.

NC is right. Window tint shops sometimes use solvents which are very similar to nitro fuel to remove tinting. And I also tried to do it with film. What a pain. Using the Racing Finish Transparent Smoke works really well. I haven't done it on a real body, but I have done it on some test panels and it's a really nice effect.

I tried window tint once from the auto store. Doesn't work well with offroad and gas engine. Debris hits it and tears it. Gas makes it come off. Then with window tint, I can't see if everything is ok inside.

yOU CAN GO TO THE PLASTIC MODEL SECTION LIKE AT YOU LOCAL WALMART AND THEY HAVE DIFFERENT TRANSPARENT MODEL PAINT. I JUST GOT DONE PAINTING MY ESCALADE BODY AND I USED A TRANSPARENT CANDY APPLE RED TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE I HAVE THAT COLORED TINT THAT YOU SEE AND IT LOOKS PRETTY DAMN GOOD. JUST SHOOT 2 OR 3 COATS. IT TURNS OUT DARK BUT YOU CAN STILL SEE THROUGH IT.

That would be me. Thanks for the welcome!

Everyone is right about the auto window tint. I guess I should have stated that in the first place. Although with a lot of the trucks that have the exhaust nipple facing down I don't think it would be that much of a problem. I really don't know for sure because I don't have a truck yet. Thanks everyone for posting what I forgot.

I've always prefered laquers to waterbase so I take half a 2/3 oz. bottle and add about 10 drops of black to it and try it. Works great for putting natural looking tint fades on top of windshields and tinting windows.
