i would like a timming system, only a little different than most designers would do. my idea is to do drag racing at 50 ft , i know a full 1/4 mile is 132 ft. even though i was watching drag racing long before you were a gleam in you dads eye. i dont think there is any thing sacred about the 1/4 mile. i dont have room to lay out my ideas. one thing i want to do different is run one car at a time, one lane. no xmass tree. on the starting line is just two beams, one is stage, one starts the timer. just stage, then when you are ready you leave, crossing the finish line gives you an E.T. and and a pair if beams on each side of the finish line gives you a M.P.H. what think?

well racer iam thinking is each car to make 5 or 10 or 15 or20 runs add the et together lowest wins. running each car buy its self you get to see how fast the car is out side of who has the fastest reaction time. i know this idea is way out in left field. maybe iam ahead of my time, maybe iam just a nut case. iam not saying this type of racing is for every one. you have to admit it WILL show the fastest car, out side of driver skills.

yea thats a good way to say it. maybe iam a nut, but i think ill try to do it even if iam the only one doing it. i could build the system if some one could design it. but i have an idea on the basic design of the electronics i would like.

Might as plonk the cars on a dyno IMO, driver skill is paramount in racing.

iam well aware of the drivers part in racing the way its done now days. i have been watching drag racing since 1955. i went to the worlds points finals from 1966 to 1969, so i have seen some racing. i have no trouble with having a driver, i just think that for testing just the car, the one lane, one time will, set up should work well. like i said it might not be for everyone.

I think you are missing a 0 in your 1/4 mile or you are using that new math:D

what i should have said, was a full size 1/4 mile is 1320 ft which in 1/10 scale is 132 ft. i am not locking my self to a scale 1/4 mile.

can no one design an electronic timing system for me? if its designed right i can build it. it is just two timers that stop at 10 sec. register down to .0001 sec. and one beam that turns on a L.E.D. and NO pic chips or software
