So it is time to rebuild my 2.5R.My question to y'all is can you buy a rebuild kit for a 3.3 and bump up the 2.5? What all is needed?and is it worth it? Thanks ahead of time.

No, the 2.5 and 3.3 have different cylinder bore and stroke sizes. Easier to use Traxxas's engine power up program and exchange that old 2.5 too a brand new 3.3.

I personally am a little skeptical of buying an engine off of Ebay. I would hate to get stuck with a "lemon" (aka a used engine). Other parts are fine but an engine maybe not so much unless the seller can really be trusted. The Traxxas enne replacement plan is only $110 for the 2.5 to 3.3 engines. And with a warranty.

The engines I am referring to are brand new engines at lower then traxxas prices, usually $80-110 for a brand new 3.3 from a seller with 100% feedback, I've done this twice now and had got what I wanted both times, a 3.3 with no issues... and I got to keep my other two half dead engines... also the sellers selling these engines pull all parts from new trucks and part them out making the prices cheaper for us and they are still making $$$ off the trucks..

hugh.... U keap doin that and you will end up with a build up of a bunch of junk motors..... I use the traxxas warrenty or if it aint that bad I rebuild.
