I've been having tuning problems with my OS 15, and I now think that the piston / sleeve is too worn. No matter what HSN and LSN settings I have tried, the engine dies after it gets to operating temp, and then stalls. It won't restart until it cools. I've checked my remps with a Raytek gun, and it never went over 280 F.

So....

Time to rebuild or replace, but which do I do?
Piston/Sleeve Kit - $50
Entire OS .15 CV w/o PS - $90
or
Try a new engine, $????

If I find a new engine, I'd like to spend no more than $130.
Any suggestions?

Well I say go with a new motor its only $40 more than a old one with a new piston with worn out parts...

go with the new.

Well, it depends... First check the compression when it's cold, turn the flywheel by hand. If it's not hard to turn, it's probably done.

As for rebuilding, and whatever... sometimes it's a good thing when you have a motor you KNOW you like, and want to keep. If not, go grab up another motor. Just remember, no two motors will run exactly the same, whether they are from the same company or not. :)

You could try anything, I recommend searching for a good motor.

Nitro Review has a pretty good base to select a motor with. They let you do comparisons to let you know what you're going to want. You can compare the "stats" on the motors of your choice, and they have just about every motor out there. I want to get a Fantom motor that a friend here told me about, but if possible I'll get an OS from Chris :)

Good luck, just remember, if you really liked that motor, it may be worth a rebuild. If it wasn't worth having, maybe it's time to look into a different motor.

And let me stress this point even more... The motors life depends on your break-in. Follow the directions to the last letter, even the last period! :) You'll make yourself much happier if you do.

Good luck, AoD
