Time to port

Flow work is not that hard to do, changing the timing is a complete no no unless you really know what your doing, or starters you need to know how to measure the timing accurately & from there it gets much more complicated.

To answer the Question, YES Time to port, a RTR engine is the best place to start.

I'll give you a HUGE hint. The By-pass ports (bottom one on the side) you want to make your angles the opposite direction of the rest. you want the flow to go from the inside of the sleeve out and upwards like in this pic

That's ERCM basic porting before any of the crazy stuff gets done, this is a Highly Respected Engine Modders work, not something you will be able to see everyday.

For the rest of the work follow the guide TRXaddict posted, its actually very good basic flow work.

Wow that guy has skill... thats probably expensive having your engine ported by him... I've never ported before, I've done some research so ill be keeping an eye on this thread.. or maybe on the nitro section i should start a porting thread. But anyways, i was going to try to port the trx 3.3 soon but my dremel's battery isnt holding a charge ( its really old ) so i need to buy a new battery and all the right bits because i wanna atleast find some old sleeves from past rebuilds and just mess around.

Its a brand new engine and I have Robin from Extreme Mods helping me out. This is just gonna be a backup motor anyhow, Robin will be supplying the good motor. I just want to learn to do RC engines. I have done some really crazy turbo car engines and these are about the only kind of engine that I dont know how to get a lot of power from. Its time to learn. I realize that its an extremely involved process but I'm sure that I can pick it up with some guidance.

Thanks Assassin. Robin already gave me the complete set of pictures that you posted. That is what I am gonna start with.

All I have to say is if anyone out there is looking to buy a modded motor or have your motor modded Robin from Extreme RC Mods is your man. He is super helpful in choosing what is right for your application and he goes out of his way to make you happy. To have a business treat you this way is becoming rare these days. Most people just want to grab your money and say see you later.

Very true, Robin goes the extra distance to give the best service not only before you buy off him, but during the entire deal and will help you with it until you get it right well after the sale.

Then there is the fact his work is also incredible, the welds on his pipes is seriously quality work. I don't know anybody who has had him mod an engine they were not overly satisfied with.

ERCM is :first_place:
