Hi guys. I am new to nitro and my Savage X 4.6 is just of out break in. I have had it 9 days and I have had lots of growing pains. It seems that just when I have it figured out and have it running good something else goes wrong.

My latest problem is that my throttle servo has stopped working all together. It stated with trouble getting the truck started and then my brakes started going. It ended with the engine dying during runs. The last time it wouldnt start and I figured out it was because the throttle servo was not moving.

The funny thing is that the exact same thing happend to my neighbor's XL last week. He ended up buying a replacement high torque servo at the LHS. Now it runs great and stops on a dime.

I called HPI and they are sending me a new servo, but who knows when it will arrive. My LHS is out of the servo my neighbor has. I have an old steering servo from my old E MAXX that I think I could use, but I'm not sure if I should. I'm thinking I should order a good replacement on line somewhere, but I dont know which one I should buy. Do I really need a high torque metal gear servo for the throttle?

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.:)

the servo from the emaxx will work fine, you do not need a high tourque servo for the throttle unless u want extreme braking power the servo from the emaxx will work just fine, however that servo from the emaxx is a high torque servo and in the end u will be happy with the result i beleive

Thanks for the response. Funny thing about that E Maxx servo. When my neighbor's throttle servo first pooped out, we tried it in his XL. It ran fine for a little while and then suddenly his throttle locked wide open. He lost control and had a spectacular wreck that broke his front shocks and other stuff.

When he bought his replacement servo at the LHS, the guys there told him it happened because he did not properly bind the radio and receiver. So when my TS went out I installed the E Maxx servo and went through the binding procedure. I tried it out on my work bench with the motor off and after a few seconds it locked my throttle wide open also.

I have since taken my steering servo and installed it as a TS. I purchased a new HPI SF-50WP high torque servo and installed it as a SS. Now everything is running smooth. My engine starts and stays on and the truck brakes just fine.

As a side note, my new replacement HPI SF-10 servo arrived today. Its going to sit on the shelf as a spare.
