Throttle return spring

We've been using small rubber bands. Probably not the best thing to use but it works. Put one end around your arm on your carb and put the other end on your HSNV. Just change it out periodically so it stays fresh. The nitro over time breaks it down.

I found a spring in a bag of screws i had kept (screws from all different kinds of objects, electronics) and i made one end big enough to "snap" over the ball end of my throttle linkage to the carb, and the other end i mounted to my engine mount through the loosening of one of the allen head screws and then fitting the screw through the loop and tightening. It works now, but i have yet to test it going out of range...

i did search when i needed this information. i turned up with nothing.

i bought the losi return spring. it looks something like this:

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXUP98&P=7

I hooked the metal flap thing on my throttle linkage on the side of the servo horn farthest away from the carb. I then took an extra linkage thing and put that after the metal flap. This makes a metal flap sandwhich between two linkage holder things. Then end result is a place to hook the spring that is securely attached to the throttle linkage.

I then put an extra ziptie around the neck of my carb. I then stuck another ziptie between the neck of the carb and the first zip tie. I made a big loop out of the second zip tie. The end result is a big ziptie loop hanging from the neck of the carb on the throttle side of the engine.

I then hooked one end of my spring to the hole in the metal flap that's now connected to my throttle linkage. I hooked the other end to the big loose zip tie loop connected to the carb neck. I then sinched up the zip tie loop until I had the tension I needed.

I had to play around with the spring a little and make it shorter here and there, so don't expect it fit like a glove.

The only downside to this is that I'll have to redo it every time I remove the mill. It's not that big of a deal, but I would have rather placed the spring someplace on the chassis. I was unable to find such a place.

I am using the same TRS RobH posted on my Maxx. It took a little work to make it work right but it was worth it IMO. :)

You may want to invest in a failsafe.

Fail safe works great until the Rx batteries die or disconnect.. then your SOL.. I'm going thru mcmastercarr right now trying to find a spring that will work

They let you run at your track without one? Nevermind, you have to have one or the other right?

I like both.

are u using a spring ? if so post some pics :D

Associated has a good stock return spring, I have also seen guys use header springs and cut them to length.

When I got my first nitro 10yrs ago, Ron Paris told me to use rubber bands. Thats what I've been using since with no probs. As FRB said its easy. You just need to change them every few weeks because of the nitro.

damn. i wish i could a sentance off with "Ron Paris told me". :hehe: that's cool you know/knew him.

i took that picture of my THS setup but doesn't do much good sitting on my camera.

Can't say the I actually "knew" him, but when I purchased my first buggy, a Mugen Athlete, about 9-10yrs ago I also got a Paris Modified Rex for it. I was a typical nitro noob and he made the mistake of having his phone # included. Anyways he helped me w/anything I needed and then some. And best of all always with a "smile" coming through the phone. I've called quite a few times over the yrs and they've always been great. Now that Rons gone, I think its Jim thats running the place. I knew they assisted traxxas in some ways on the 2.5. So I called and they hooked me up with the pipe that developed the most power. Great people, and a huge part of the backbone that has made nitro rc what it is today.
