hey guys, I'm new to nitro rcs and was wondering if it is normal for when i get it tuned for me to press the throttle for there to be a a delay before it actually start going? thanks guys
 
what type rc?check batteries,adj. linkage,and if new to nitro check out the link zdragon posted.also check slipper clutch if you have 1.sounds like the lsn needs to be leaned out.

i too have throttle issues...mine only knows 1 speed wfo.
 
With Nitro engines and a slide carb almost every day is a new tuning day when you first fire up your engine and get it up to normal operating temperatures. The LSN is the most ignored setting. I am going old school here and read something many years ago.

I will also mention what ZDragon said on the throttle linkage when the engine is in the idle position there should not be alot of play between the linkage and servo. On the Throttle linkage with the spring should just have a little play on the outside Linkage ring when the servo pushes the throttle forward. Thickness of a credit card at most. Not sure if it makes sense. Anything more than this it will delay the throttle when you hit it and keep you from full throttle. Depending on your radio you can adjust it also with with throttle adjustment and if the throttle is not set to center your servo will not center on the settings.

With the air filter pulled off and engine not running the idle screw should be set at the thickness of a credit card and this adjustment is done by sight alone.

There used to be people that believed that once you squeezed the fuel line the engine should only run for 3 to 5 seconds. If it ran shorter the LSN was too rich and if it ran longer the LSN was too lean. I actually have tested it and pretty close to reality.

Once you get the LSN set then only the HSN needs to be set for each day you play.

When I set my HSN for the day it has more to do with the smoke trail then engine temps. You need a good trail of smoke when running and then it comes to engine sound. If your running too rich your engine will run cold if your running to lean the engine will run hot.

Now this also has a lot to do with the outdoor temps and weather each day. You can have a great smoke trail on day that is 90 degrees outside and the engine temps will be a little over 200 degrees than be running richer then on a day that is 60 degrees outside with leaner mixture an engine temp of 160 degrees. The engine will still scream the RPMs you are looking for.

Guess what I am attempting to say is always make sure you have a good smoke trail coming out of the exhaust without spitting fuel.

Set your Idle Screw and you can use your radio to center the servo. Check the distances on your linkage settings and make sure they are really close without being to far out.
 
turn it on and then squze the throttle till w.o.t w/transmiter and see if the slide is open all the way.if not adj.get some one too hold transmiter @ w.o.t to see where the carb slideis.if not all the way out push the back till the slide is not visible loosen the adj. slide and tighten.check to make sure it's not too tight.
