Hey guys. I replaced my stock clutch setup with the hot racing aluminum three shoe. Contents were three shoes three washers and three springs and flywheel. Now i assumed the washers went between the shoes and the flywheel being there was three? Put it together and the c clip wasn't in properly i guess and i lost the outer bearing. So i ordered a new bell bearings and clip and just got it together. Now it seems just as when my original clutch spring was broke, meaning i start it up and it wants to take off. I set it on blocks and it will sit there and run like i have my finger on the trigger until i give it over half throttle then it stalls.I took it back apart and clutch shoes are free to move with good tension on them. So I'm lost at this point lookin for help please. Is there supposed to be a shim outside the bell between the bearing and c clip or inside between the flywheel nut and inside bearing. Traxxas picture says outside under the c clip but wasn't sure it the bell needed to be shimmed away from the new 3 shoe clutch. Thanks for any help possible

can you spin the clutch bell ?? if you spin it with your fingers and it keeps spinning on its own , it should be ok ....if it doesn't spin freely or you can feel it rubbing on something , you might need to shim it

also , you can replace the C clip with a screw and shims ;)

with the clip in and all together the bell spins free.

Only other thing i could add is the fact the truck sat for a while, maybe something to do with a dirty carb? Revving up and stalling when you get past half throttle or if u just quick stab the throttle it dies. So not sure if that helps anyones analysis

Nope i dont think so. I loosened up the slipper clutch and it helped some but still wants to move. And as far as the idle, it has not been touched since i bought it and it was perfect before the clutch replacement. Can u actually put the shoes backwards?Which way should the they be going Clockwise or counter clockwise?

also figured my half throttle stalling issue, changed the glow plug to a new one and runs fine. Would just tightening the slipper clutch nut to tight do damage or not really unless you run it a bit?And one more thing about the slipper adjustment starting point, Tighten and back off half turn?

Don't tighten it all the way, you'll flatten the washers used as a spring. Put a wrench in the hole on the other side and tighten it until you can't turn it by hand. Then back it off a half turn and test it there and loosen as needed

well ya see i thought i might have tightened it all the way but if your sayin u wouldnt be able to turn it by hand bein tight i guess it wasn't totally tight cause u could still spin it by hand with ease.I did back it off a bunch and started it and wouldnt move,so i tightened it little by little so it took off pretty good and left it but still wants to take off a little just sitting there unless i tighten the brake adj. up.But the manual says the spring on the brake adj rod should just be sitting on the arm and i have to actually put tension on it to make it not want to move when it sits there at idle, just seems like to much brake adj. But thats where i am at.Also got the idle as low as it will go and sit there and run.

It really could only be 2 things to cause the truck to move forward at idle speed.
The clutch shoes are dragging against the bell at a low engine rpm's and/or the idle speed is too high.

The clutch shoes shoe pivot from the right. If you're looking straight at them you should have them pointing to the right.

Welcome aboard mr. Snook Man, I was wondering when you'd join here.

So the clutch is installed correctly, bell spins free as a bird by finger and idle is as low as i can go. I guess all i can do is adjust brake up enough to hold it still. What would be the outcome if the slipper was adjusted to tight and flatened the washers? I did not run it very long like that and not 100% sure it was that tight just lookin for something. Also thanks to all u guys for your help and imput on the situation.:)Oh and the springs and clutch are all new.

Must be the springs then. You'll have to locate some stiffer ones.
You will ruin the spring washers and could break the pressure plate. Tightening the slipper will not gain you anything in this situation.

No I what i was getting at is if the slipper were to have been tightened to much could that have damaged something to make it do what its doing now. I backed it way off so the truck would barely move then tightened in small incraments till it did not seem to slip at all.
