Howdy all,

Been kicking this around in my head; I'd love to see a thread where we all post our first ascents of a tricky or challenging trail in our area, sharing it with the group. Maybe a short description about what makes it tough and how you're stoked to have finally knocked it off. It would be another good way to see each other's terrain and learn more about what challenges each of us in our area.

Here is an example:

First Ascent today for the Class 2 Delano on a nasty block of dolomite located out on the west side of the valley. This one took the better part of an hour to solve today, and I only got it two times out of many, many attempts. None of my other 1/10 crawlers can make the line, so I'm stoked to finally call this one complete.

Cool idea for a thread but I don't have many options here to add. I will say that today I was stoked to make it up a line I didn't think I could make it up.

My usual area, about an 18ft tall dirt mound, this year it had one side chewed up by bulldozers, and this winters rain made it into some new terrain. (haven't been out for a few months). So I guess this was a first run at it.

Slow and steady, with a lot of slippage, but with enough steering I got the needed traction and made it up and over. Really didn't think I could. Now I wish I had a pic. Best I can do is another pic from todays session.

If people are honest then there will be lots of pictures of upside down trucks.
How many of us didn't cartwheel our truck down the hill on our first wild descent? I'm assuming not many.

I tumbled both of my rigs today, but I did pull that line on the first time. 🤣

Cool idea!
Your truck also looks awesome in those photos!

It's winter here so I haven't been able to get out with the exception of the indoor center.

Last summer I made a ton of trips out to an abandoned quarry that the local community has turned into recreational space.
I would park at the very bottom and crawl up through the various levels.
This one spot we're focusing on was man made out of a bunch of large stone is quite challenging to most 1/10, 1.9" rigs. Apparently impossible for a 1.55.

The Taco never made it, here's a video of the run.

Next I wanted to challenge it with something else I have that is proven and at this point, dead nuts reliable.

This old boy made it without much of a problem on what I would consider a pretty poor tire; PL KO2 1.9". It was awesome to do it with something that is so old, yet still so capable. I even purposefully jammed it into the area that ripped apart the Element just to see if it could do it.

Then came fall/November and I picked up a H10. Talk about bees knees, the cats pajamas or whatever other positive old timey saying in there.

Ice cold out and I thought I could challenge it. Seems almost impossible on natural terrain.
It said "hold my hot chocolate" as I dominate the trails.

Can't wait to go back in the summer and walk the trails. I also found out at the last comp I was at there is another spot only 5 minutes from my house. I'll check it out come spring, maybe I'll find some new lines 😁
