ok...so here the deal...the ruber coating wore off my wires...and i didnt notice it (comming from the switch and from the baterys) so it ground out and i lost complete controll over my car...it went straight towards the dead end (there is a wooden wall at the end) but lukaly, hit a snowbank first so it fliped about 15 feet in the air...landed on its roof with the throttle still at full....it was like that for about 15 seconds till i could get to the car...

now the bad stuff....after 15 seconds of high revs do you think the engine is still good? or should i go throught it??

also does anyone know a good failsafe that i could buy for my RC10GT?? and whut price?

it might have messed something up, did it run ok after that? I like the venom fail safes and I think there around $25

You can start it up if you wanted to, to make sure the engine is good. Just turn off the receiver and start it, and move the servo with your finger.

Yes, just start with the rx and tx off and move servo horn by hand. As for being on wot for 15 secs, I wouldnt worry too much.

well, for some reason i can't get my engine to start now....idk if its just that i dont have my idle right, because i dont have radio hookup or whut mabe tommorow xD

Take your air filter off and look in the carb then turn your throttle servo back and forth so you can see when it's open and closed

i tore my engine apart...it looks good i soaked it in gas to clean it (might aswell since its already apart) and I'm ordering a new batery holder, and a new switch probly even a failsafe

No failsafe yet ?? that should be one of the FIRST things you fit, especially to a nitro rig, mind you, electrics can be just as bad as runaways !

the car is 2.5 years old almost completely stock other than some stuff i bought within the last few months...I'm prety much just waiting till something breaks to upgrade it. just bought an EDM body lookin forward to racing later in te year.

Got lucky ?? that's a bit of an understatement !!

as i Said,

failsafe is comming in the mail and yes lol i got way lucky i think i pissed my pants a lil when teh car took off on me tho xD

I learnt the "Hard" way to put a heavy spring from the servo arm, to a point on the chassis to return the throttle to the closed position should battery power be lost, whereupon a failsafe is absolutely useless. With the extra spring on the SERVO HORN fixed to a convenient place on the cahssis or centre diff mount, the thottle WILL SHUT in any condition of battery failure or complete loss of power to the receiver.

Check out my "3 project pain !!!" thread in the "readers" projects forum and you will see an extra sring from the throttle servo, to the top of the centre diff mount.

How did i learn the "Hard" way ?? i ASSUMED that my failsafe would stop a runaway. WRONG, i lost my battery cage at WOT and the thing flew (luckily) into some long grass at top speed. After that, i fitted then spring. Never had a "Runaway" since.

GET THE FAILSAFE!!! I have the Ofna version in all my rigs. I think I paid $25.00 each
at the LHS.

lol when you mention that...i had a spring on their but that day i pulled it because it was twisting the plastic throttle linkage on the carb

hey just do what you did and make sue the wire is working and the cover it in HOTT Glue to get it to stop failing

did you ever get it started after
