Well, the verdict is in. Same as Jr. 100 driver points. $100,000. And both crew chiefs suspended for 6 races. I think that's fair.

Hey, just think. This is Chad Knauss' 3rd year in a row! That must be a record.

good point.. so that makes me wonder...

Obviously, suspensions/points/money isn't going to deter them from cheating... so what will? And at what point is Nascar going to seriously do something about it? 4 seasons in a row... 6 seasons? When will enough be enough? Would it be to harsh to install a lifetime ban on somebody who obviously has no respect for the rules?

"Everybody cheats, it's just that not everybody gets caught"

- Is this way of thinking ok with Nascar? They seem to be pushing for the "family entertainment" market.. a sport full of cheaters doesn't seem like the type of image that they would want. However, does it seem like they tollerate it because they are not willing to REALLY lay down the law?

Opinions?

I have an idea, how about people wake up and realize Hendrick is nothing more than a con that bought his way out of trouble and faked a disease so he didn't have to do the time. Come on, once a con always a con!!!!! How about they just ban Hendrick Con Man motorsports from NASCRAP. The orders to cheat and fudge the "grey areas" come from somewhere other than the crew chiefs, they are just the ones that take the hit. What about the team managers? etc?

well I sopose base ball is better for kids, ummmmm not they are all on drugs!!!!!!!!lets face it all things have a cheating side its just life deal wih it:thefinger

Well, I think the punishment fit the crime. I for one am just glad NASCAR was at least consistant with the punishment.

Here is an idea. Suspend the driver as well as the crew chief. I bet that would slow the cheating crap down. You can't tell me that gordo and johnson didn't know their cars were out of whack!

The car and team belong to the owners, not the drivers. Although the drivers know whats going on with the cars they do not make these decisions, it comes down to the owners.

Nascar has always had grey areas that teams played with, sometimes you get caught and most times you don't. The only way to really hurt any of them is by taking points, I don't mean 100 points.....Try 500 points. The 100 point deduction was nothing for the 24 team, it might actually help them in the long run. With the 6 race suspension Steve can spend more time in the shop getting ready the the chase.

Like was mentioned at some poin during the race, with what happened to Gordon what if it had been Mark Martin in the car? That really would have sucked for him getting bit like that or is it possible Lafart wouldn't have pulled the little "play with the grey area thingy?"

I didn't even think about that, it could have easily been Martin in the car. I think they would have done the same thing.

Did they cheat...Yes, did they think Nascar would notice....yes! I believe they thought Nacsar would either let it through or just make them fix it without the penalty. The fenders did fit the template and they figured because there is nothing written in stone about the area between the template they could get away with it. If Nascar would have let it pass every other team out there would have been more than willing to cheat next week.
