Tell me why would you mess with an area of the car that is checked with a fine tooth comb? The 24 and 48 teams are in a pickle now..I am a Gordon fan but why would you risk your points lead you have worked so hard to build it up?It is a dumb move on both crew chiefs.I think they will both get a hefty fine and both drivers will lose a ton of points. They are not able to practice or qualify and there is talk they might not be able to race Sunday. And if they do race they will have to start 41st and 42nd..Maybe they read the COT rule book wrong and it was an honest mistake..I don't know..????

HAHAhHAhahAhah I love it! You know it was only a matter of time until they caught Spanky McCheaterpants cheating. It just took a little longer this year than other years. I hope Nascar smacks em like a red headed step child!

As long as the car can pass inspection today they will race on Sunday with a slight chance at a few practice laps tomorrow.

Gordon will start in last and still have a good finish but I hope they don't hit him too hard on points.

I'm a Gordon fan.

But let me be completely honest. How stupid can you be? Someone on those teams needs a good kick in the nuts. And if their penalty is any less than the penalty handed out to Jr.'s crew for their wing mount, then I'll start thinking NASCAR might just be handing out preferential penalties.

I don't feel like doing much searching and or reading. I've done enough with home loans today. What did they do?

The front fenders were bowed out to much and didn't fit Nascar's template, it would have given more downforce on the front end.

For everyone talking about them being cheaters just remember this. All teams cheat it's just who gets caught. I used to be involved with a race team racing local short track racing and I could just about guarantee there was no one there who wasn't cheating. Racers tend to bend the rules to the limits and sometimes they get caught over that limit.

That may be true, but doesn't nascar have a mold of some sort that they just run along the car to make sure it is correct. I'm hoping that was a crew cheif thing and not a hendric thing!

Penalty should be pretty hefty I imagine... Oh well, they got busted. Sometimes when you play too hard you get hurt.

but I don't give a shiiiit.. cuz Jaime's on the POLE! Talk about exciting! I havn't screamed at my t.v. in quite a while. Best thing is I tolda buddy at work that he would get the pole.. so far I'm 1:2 with my predictions this week! Woot woot! Go Jaime!.. I got a rare unopened bottle and some 7up that are just beggin' to be introduced!

That's what makes it so stupid. There are templates for all parts of the body that the cars have to conform to. Even 1/8 difference gets them tagged.
I often wonder is they leave an obvious cheat, in hopes of getting another one overlooked.

The way I heard it today was that the cars actually DID fit the templates. But that the creative fabricators managed to "massage" the shape of the bumpers between the ribs of the template. I gotta hand it to them for being creative. But still stupid in the end.

And hey, Lessen, congrats on Jamie getting the pole. Too bad he won't be within 2 zip codes of first at the finish...

Once they fix the fenders the entire car rolls through a full inspection again...That would be even dumber than the fender deal but you never know.

Maybe they'll just bring a fat driver to lower the car a little more.
As long as he doesn't have to fit the templates, they should be fine.

Thanks for the detailed info.. that's interesting. However, I strongly disagree with your prediction. If he doesn't finish 2-5 you'll be eating those zip codes when he's in victory lane :)

Candyman, Lessen, how about a little friendly wager between you two then? Maybe an avatar or sig. :D

On another note Lessen, with this pole at least Jamie will be in the shootout next year.

Even coming from the back I bet Gordon finishes ahead of him...I would bet a avatar/sig on it
