Hey all, thinking of getting an Iwata HP-CR airbrush. I'm about as artistic as a toadstool so I don't need a fancy brush, just something decent that will last me a while and let me paint decent even if my designs suck. I've read here that a few of you have recommended this brush. Just wanting to make sure I'm headed in the right direction or if someone can recommend something else and why. I've found a couple for under $65 new and shipping is cheap.

I just bought one this fall, but haven't had a whole lot of time to use it yet. You're talking about the Revolution HP-CR, right? The gravity-feed brush? That's the one I have. Compared to my old and tired Paasche VL, it is very smooth. Don't get me wrong, I think the VL is a great brush. I just think mine had seen better days and I was having a lot of trouble with smooth feed and fading. The CR is awesome for that. I really like it so far. I'm about to embark on 2 new bodies to break it in. So I'll let you know what happens.

Cool, let me see some pix when you done. That is the one Rev HP-CR. I figure I can grow into it and it will hold me over til I can acquire some skills! LOL

I've done a few test panels on glass to practice a little and it's really nice. I like the gravity feed. It comes with a cap for the paint cup so I can bend my hand around more without spilling paint. I can't tell you how close I've come to ruining bodies because I'm trying to bend the airbrush into weird places in the body. It's also light and comfortable. It does nice thin to medium lines. Doesn't do huge, broad strokes that you might use for full-body coverage or backing, but that's no real limitation. It will just take a little longer to back the paint, that's all. It's really a top-notch piece if you ask me. And I think you'll get a long use out of it.
