I lit a fire in my Hyper 7 PBS with the Mach 28 engine this past evening.,(11:13 p.m. Friday the 13th to be exact, lol)
I have to say, this being my first nitro RC, my heart was racing when it finally fired off,,lol.
I'm almost through my first quart of fuel , heat cycling the break-in( I dunno if I'll ever see my cats again,,LMAO)
I can hardly wait to lean this baby out and let the big dog eat!!!

Just ya wait till ya hit full throttle for the first time... Don't forget to breathe, and do it in a nice wide open area, with no traffic (human or otherwise). It can and will hit top speeds before you realize it.

Congrats on getting that puppy going. I don't think I'll ever forget the first time I started a nitro rc....Awesome feeling!

i fired mine up for the first time on friday night and this thing romps like no other! can't believe how fast it was!!! but then my engine screws fell out and ended the evening.

Jeep, when you say heat cycling, do you mean idling through a tank at a time or do you mean while on the throttle?

Like the other guy said, in an open area. If there is tree in the area, you will hit it. That is if you are new to using a remote control.

No, not totally idling, once it warmed up enough to take a little throttle, I would run at about 1/4 throttle or less for a few secs and check engine temp, then let it idle for a few more sec, then about 1/4 throttle for a few secs and repeat until I saw about 220-230 degrees(it was cold out that night about 40 deg or so) with the wheels off the ground. Then I'd let it completely cool (w/piston at bdc) and then fire it up again, did that for almost 2 tanks and it was very rich, then I leaned it just a little and gradually increase the rpm using the same method as above and reached running temp quicker and let it totally cool.
Gradually leaning and increasing rpm through the third tank and then drove it no more than about 1/3-1/2 throttle keeping a watch on engine temp and repeated that for a few more tanks, letting it cool down after running a few mins at running temp.

It seems to perform wonderfully, I'm still a bit on the rich side, I'm not gonna really try to set the high end mix until about another quart or half gallon of fuel.

Perfect. In fact, since you are hitting such good temps and the motor is starting to loosen up so well and taking the throttle, I would hold off on any more break in major carb adjustments until the weather is closer to your normal temps. At least about 60-65. Then your final break in tune will be more accurate and you will require less re-adjustments when tuning for minor changes in the weather. Right now you are in your weather extreme, so any tune you finalize now won't mean squat in spring or even summer. JM:2cents:

Funny Revo Rancher says Gold Member under his name, isn't that the *** guy on Austin Powers? Must be a California thing.

Well.. Uh welcome to the forums but.... what the hell did that have to do with anything?

I'd link the page for supporting the forum but it seems to be down... anyway goldmember means he "donates" to rcnt and gets little forum bonuses.

Edit: I dont want to add a new post since its off topic Revo but the Link Eddy has doesn't work. Neither does the one on the main page

Here's a little linky-dinky to the member FAQ for you, stomper. Pony up and join us!

Besides the Blue Men (mods), and two Orange Men (Owners), there are a bunch of us "Gold Members" on this forum. Real nice to have the Gallery and games, plus the avatars and such. What part of Maine are you from?

Sumo, your absolutely right, the sticky by Eddy opens, but the other link within does not. Must have glitched with the forum upgrade.

Mod, or Woodie, you might want to know about this, or is just certain skins?

(Sorry, Jeep, we derailed your thread for short time)

Revo, thanks for the advice,,and I don't even notice a derailing,,lol,,, But, i do have a bit of advice for you.
If the device in question burns a fuel for combustion and generates power from that combustion, it is considered an "engine",,
If torque or rotational energy is created from a unit that is using electrical current as a source of power, that unit is refered to as a "motor" ;)
