Well I got me a project in the mail....and it has finally come to a close. I painted the body a very simple scheme but I still like it. Sometimes simple is pretty nice. In the sunlight it really glows. It is nearly a different color from every angle. Just a note to Rolex.....don't worry I promptly srubbed down the entire car and re-armor-all'ed the tires. Then put it back under a tarp in my de-humidified, climate controlled hobby closet.

wow.. that thing looks just like mine!! lol

glad to see you got her built. I've heard you can take those foam things that were in the engine box and shove them in the side scoop to help keep grass and dirt out. i did, but havent ran it yet.

Actually I got the idea of the black nose and fading to another color a little from the one Cadyman painted for you Beason. I had plans for another color too but said heck with it. I did a full coat of Tamiya Flame clear coat. It is just pure metal flake that gives a rainbow affect in the sunlight. I did that first so no matter where in the paint job you are the sparklies are the same kinda like a boat hull like.....a "Chriscraft".... I thought it was a good idea anyway. The blue looked way too bright when I first sprayed it and was not too happy but with the flame it toned it down a bit I think. But this is my first real paint job and it will be a basher so I'm happy. On another note I was thinking about putting window screen in the body in the air scoops to keep out the grass and debris. Grass it what it will be on mainly since that is all I have for the most part here.....just have to see what happens.

Looking good.

Now get some frickendirt on that bad boy.

If you run primarily in grass, do what Beason suggests and stuff the front of the pods with the foam. Also get yourself an Outerwears for the pull start cover.

Here is a nice clean way to cover all the engine openings.

dont mean to hijack the thread, but on the foam bits, do you do anything to hold them in? or will they stay just wedged in there?

Heck be my guest and hijack all ya want....it all the same topic right? I think the foamies will stay in there on there own. I have a full set of outerwares coming from Daves. Just waiting....arrrgh. I did run it today and the scoops were PACKED with grass. I had to pull the body half way off to get it out even using 150 psi of air. I am going to have to do something there for sure and Rob, I saw those screens AFTER I placed my order....lol. Oh well I will have to do some thing because I had grass coming up around the spark plug under the engine cowling.....

yea i got the redneck air filter cover, but i need to get the outerwears. that and the slammer damn will be my next purchase for it, along with a kill switch. since that bottom skid is solid, i may look into making some screens to mount to it under the bottom pods.

i need to take the engine out anyway to mount my temp sensor.

The temp may be a bit more of a novelty on this rig, actually I am not even sure what they are supposed to run at. I have a venom fail safe on it but the temp probe will not reach that far. I am putting some window screen in the scoops for now until I can come up with something better. I was thinking about the kill switch too....I have a 3PKS so I can program the third channel to do anything I want it to do kinda like your Normadio. But if I do that then I can't have lights. I think the kill switch is more important so it's settled.

yes you can!! you can get a controller that runs the lights and the kill switch. i have 4 channels though so I'm gravy.

yea its a novelty, but with the grass buildup it would let me know if its getting warm. from what I've heard they run about 180 to 200, so I'm gonna set it to alert at about 215.

i need to look at lowes and see what they have. i also like the idea of filling in the holes in the main chassis.

If you ran in grass and the pods filled up with the stuff, you can bet it's in your pull start housing and in your flywheel.

Easy to clean though. Just remove your pullstart and clean it out.

I was able to get it out with compressed air for the most part. So with a hour and a square foot of window screen I have fixed the problem with the body openings. I put in the foamies from the engine box.....lol. I could not get the screen to work. It would worked better I think if it was the wire mesh kind. But for now the plugs will work....I am not beaten yet. I am way to dumb to admit total defeat!

side scoops.

I have a question about blocking the side scoops with the foam.. Doesn't the fins in the Pull starter help cool the engine? Wouldn't this make the engine heat up by doing this?? Thanks

the foam lets air flow through. the engine gets alot of air on these. i dont think it will be a problem.

To help keep the vent holes free of grass, just take the fan-side pod off. It allows the grass to fall off the pull start screen (once you get an outerwears).

You should also trim the plastic shroud to where there is no plastic on top or on the sides. This keeps the fins from getting plugged. The fan still blows plenty of air through.

@ Beason: Get a PB killswitch. Kent is the guy that makes them and he's a pretty awesome guy. I got mine on Monday and I love it. rckillswitch.com

Thanks for the help guys. Wow just ran my second tank. Tweaked ever so little and it rips. I am done with nitro. I am selling my other rc cars and getting a 5t. I got alot to list so watch for it in the Classifieds. Mayhem truggy, Mayhem buggy, Tc3 roller w/upgrades,Jato, T-max classic roller chasis with alot of rpm stuf. Its all going. I'm keeping the Savage XL because so its been painless.

Oh yeah once I got thorough that agonizing first tank (had to keep the finger out of it) it took just a touch of the needle and it was ripping the grass out of the ground. I am not getting rid of my nitros but the Baja is a kick in the pants.
