I have invested close to 2 grand in my T-Maxx w/ a HPI .21bb engine and now when I want to drive it instead of looking at it the damn thing wont start. :wtf: It has been broken in about 6 months ago and the fuel I was trying to use was about that old to. Since then I have changed almost every part to aluminum or upgraded parts that can't be alloy. I am guessing the problem is with the old fuel but I'm not totaly sure. I going to pick up another quart of it tomarrow though. I have it back to the factory settings on the carb and have a 40 dollar air filter on it so it has to get enough airflow. Anyone had this happen before. And no I didn't forget about the glow igniter, priming or any other things like that. I hook up the rotostart and push the little button but it just turns over without starting. It did start a couple times but died within seconds. HELP PLEASE

By the way it might be for sale in a couple months if anyone is interested. :ponder:

Taking a wild guess here, but did you check you glow plug? If the coil looks dull or coroded, it's bad. If the top coil or so does not glow, it's bad. Just a thought.

If the car has been sitting as long as that fuel has, my guess is the fuel is bad, every day a container of fuel sits it loses its nitro content, aftre a while the nitro content will evaporate and cause most of the oil content to sink to the bottom of the container, although you can't see this, it really does happen, I was trying to run some old fuel through my 2.5 once and couldnt figure out why it wouldnt stay running, it fired a couple times too, and then died like yours, error is also right by saying the glo plug is bad, if you left that mil sit for that long with any fuel in the motor at all, this will cause condensation and corosion on the coil, get new plug, get new fuel, try again!

Is this the Maxx that you cut the shaft on the .21BB to make it fit?

If the engine has been sitting idle for six months, did it have afterrun oil in it while it sat idle? If so, the oil will make it hard to start. You will want to replace the glo-plug with a new one, and get new fuel. You might also make certain you have fresh batteries all around (especially in the glo-ignitor).

Save the old fuel as you can mix it with some of the new fuel to give it new life and burn it once you get your engine starting woes taken care of.

Ya Its the same maxx. Tomarrow Ill get a new plug and fuel. Any recomendations on what a good plug would be. I was thinking about one of the hotter ones to aid in easy starting.

With the batteries they piss me off. I am always charging them cause my high torque servos drain them after a hour of use. They are the expensive ones too!

Your engine will never care how many hop-ups are on the truck. Nor will it care how much the air filter costs. Setting back to factory is ok but I really think your on the right track with the fuel and glow plug. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

Hmmm, that's kind of weird. Everytime I take my truck to the LHS it's all the time going "damn, I'd look GOOOOD with those tires", and "man, I really need those aluminum suspension arms". I don't take it to the LHS anymore.

That is not your truck talking...that is your alter ego. And I imagine that your wallet is screaming no f'n way.

If the engine was already broken in than the factory setting may be a little to rich.My 21BB would never start or stay running on the Factory settings after break in.If it did start it would ie when I gave it gas or let it sit to long.If the new fuel and plug doesn't work try leaning it down about 1/8 turn on both needles and see if that will at least keep it running so you can tune it properly.

The fuel sitting thing is fine but if this is the case then it's probably going bad when you buy it. I'm sure it sits around quite awhile on shelves someplace until somebody buys it. I'd think if the container is sealed and it is stored properly, it should last for some time.

Larry is right on the fuel on the shelf theory, lots of fuels go bad sitting on shelves in strores but not as much as a half open(old) container of fuel would, nitro fuel is sensitive to temp changes, sunlight, just leaving it in your car during a bash will shorten its life, I use trinity monster 20% fuel, It works well for me, blue thunder is popular and I have heard because of this, it dosnt sit on the shelves long, but after asking a racer why he liked the odonell fuel he said because its the only fuel out there that comes in a solid white container, dosnt lose its nitro content as easily! after looking around at other drivers I guess I figured out why they all(most of them) use it! I've never tried it myself, but I think I'm going to next jug!

savage wont start

i have savage 25 with ofna .26 force (same engine as the 25) it won't start. glow plug/ starter is fine. everything spins and makes noise but cannot get it to start. i put fuel in the carb and started but only on the fuel that was put in. i use trinity monster fuel...... any suggestions.

Ofna force

one thing i know is always go rich first then lean cause lean is not so good for the motor(if you want it to last a while) i just fixed my problem it had a bubble in the tube you might want to take out the tube to the exaust and blow into it while plugging it a few times thats how i got mine running
