Seriously. I got the two cars (one off road buggy, and one on road speedster) Off Ebay for about thirty bucks. When I got them, I expected I would have to tune and tweak moderatly before I got a good run out of the things. I went out to my LHS and talked with the owner. He was kind of a prick, but generally well informed. He got me the hook up on some fuel (A gallon of "O'donnell Racing fuel") a glow plug charger and a few other odds and ends for around thitry bucks. Now, keep in mind this is coming from a Nitro RC virgin- I got this stuff home and sat down and did a little reading. From what is posted here, and what Doug at the hobby shop told me, I came to a general understanding of my first time. after fine tuning the radio and reciever, I took the on road speedster outside and filled er' up. I screwed with the fuel lines a bit and waited a few minutes, witch was hard to do. I then attached my big red glow plug charger. Unfortunately I did NOT know how long to do this, so I just left it for about a minute. Ladies and Gentlemen- This thing started on the second crank. It ran a little fast for the break in, But after some more fine tuning I got it in check. I ran it through one single tank of O'donnells. I let it cool for about an hour, then did it all again, this time turning slow figure eight's around the parking lot. after it died (out of gas) I let it cool, and I now sit before you, cherry popped and feeling like I just jumped out of a plane with no chute :D
Now, after all this random blabering, I have only one question. Anybody know what I might have done diffrently/better to tune this unit in? Does it seem like I did about right? I appreciate all the support and look forward to critisicism. Let me know what your first time was like (teehee)

Jeff

Remember to put the piston at bottom dead center....out of the "pinch" when cooling. The glow starter just needs to be put on, not left on,you will damage your plug if you leave it on, just attach it and start the car/truck, and take it off.

Get a temp gun. It will help you with breaking it in and the performance tuing later on. Sounds like you did ok. How did you get two cars/trucks for 30 bucks? Were they brand new?

dude that was what started it all its like you can never get as high as you did the first time but you keep commin back for more LOL welcome

just wait till you got 5 or so of the little bugers running every which way.. lol you comming sunday?

Nothing like the smell of burned nitro on your t-shirt after a day of screwing around with the rigs.

(still wondering about the 30.00 deal!)

aj is trying to buy it, and I really want to KILL IT, plus I would never sell that to someone... I have a heart, that would be mean! I'm just worried about burning up the reciever, even tho its the stock HPI lol

did anyone else think that voldka was some how going to be involved in this thread??

No typo there guys. This dude had a couple rigs on Ebay. Said he bought em brand new and didn't feell like dedicating the time to them anymore. Neither one was ever ran. When I broght up to the LHS, Doug said that the on-road looked like an HPI knockoff (and they ARE knockoff's) but they both run pretty good and generally kickass. Tottal ammount to startem both up... Thirty bucks on Ebay. Twelve to ship two seven pound boxes. Then about forty bucks apiece at the hobby shop. My wife had to come yell at me earlier this morning. I didnt want to go to sleep. too busy trying to outrun the cats on our block... :D

Even worse. It's a "HiSpeedModel" made by a manufacture called "SPEED" ... even the servos and brakes are "SPEED" brand. pffft. It's still a good car for a newb. If I tottal it next sunday bashin with tha guys, I can just go score another un' K Sera Sera.

so your comming?? great... oh and bring the onroad.. we got us a radar gun!! gonna all go up to the school and speed check them.. call me and ill give you directions.. later..

WoooHoooo. Remote control Yugo! Aw hell, at least you're out burning it up. You're right. If you blow them up tomorrow you're still well into the game. Just wait until you start upgrading your rides. That's when the fun really begins.

And when the wife steps in ...

I'm already thinking some alum. front and rear arms, a new exhaust pipe and extender, new front and rear bumper, plus the mounting gear, some protector boxes for the servos, and even some new servos themselves. The shock are in good condition, but I WOULD like to raise the car off the ground a little bit, as my chassis is already all scrathed and beat up. The engine runs great, and will still crank right up- unless i leave it sitting all night. but... and yes, I am going to say it, I want the damn thing to be just a smidge more quiet. I like running this thing, but unfortunately I have to run it in our appartment area for now because I don't know any good bash spots and the guy at my LHS is a prick that charges 10 bucks an hour to go practice the track (witch is in very poor condition) But besides a few needed hop ups, I think it runs great. It has a slight problem keeping a straing run, and like to jump around a lot- But I will be posting another thread asking what to do about that. Yes, I will be there Sunday, (hopefully) The wife seems to be allright with it, even wants to try it out. Right now my rides in the shop, and will be for a few weeks- So I will be bussing it. I will give you a call prolly sometime tommorow after I get back from the hobby shop.
