Bashing like crazy...I have an area right down the street that has some real tricky and technical climbs. I am having too much fun....It is coming at a cost though...lol. The body on my Revo has gotten more scratches, dents and cracks in the last 4 days than the first 2 months I had it...LOL. I guess thats why they call it bashing...My issue is trying to find a way to keep the front wheels down while still having the power for the climb...The 300k is helping some but I am still pulling some wheelies at inopportune moments that lead to less than stellar control...Does anyone have any tips on this? I know there has to be some bashers out there that enjoy the technical aspects of hill climbing...

I have heard or read of some folks using lead weights in the front end to achieve that stay on the ground effect.


Also check out Smoken aces ride in the Post your revo pics thread......he mounts the battery right up front....over the shocks, and I have to believe that creates some interesting changes to the CG....and the down force.


I am playing with 500k diff juice to see if I can keep mine on the ground behind my os 18...with mixed results....and of course most of it comes down to the finesse of the driver....;)
 
Adding weight would be the fastest and easiest way to keep the front end down. I have 1oz on my front bumper and I have found that helps a lot. Plus youy can always add or remove.
 
I think it is the finesse part that I like so much...But finesse will only take you so far on some of these vertical climbs...I will try the weight idea...It may require a spring change...I have the 500k oil myself Talon...I am considering purchasing a 2nd Center diff so I don't have to change out oil everytime I want different handling characteristics. That has to be the nastiest job you can do on these things...Messy as hell...Its a shame the 500k oil is not in a Traxxas style applicator...I have the extended arms on it right now and they are helping as well...
 
Are you changing the diff fluid in the fronts and rears as well??? It wont help much to just stiffen the center....in fact it might exacerbate the issue.

I ended up grabbing several diff from ebay and I am now using them as you say to swap out weights and test combos.....I am too lazy to drain and refill the fluid each time ....and it is as you say the stickiest job on the planet....;)

I will let you know when I find a combo that works for climbing....I have a few hills here on the property that are very challenging........and I have yet to "do them" properly.

I have 4 spares lol. I have yet to mess with the stock ones. They are still on the truck. I have entertained running the spool exclusively for the climbs. These are for the most part straight climbs with dirt that becomes loose pretty quick...these are small hills but steep and with distinct lines as the are littered with wheelie causing, skid plate busting rocks...I find myself wondering if the center diff is hurting me because it changes the drive wheels and thus the line I am looking to stay on...All I know is I am really having a blast with this....I think I enjoy this aspect more than any other when it comes to driving....

Just for clearity...there are three diffs on that puppy as you are using the center diff.


Soooo you will need to stiffen up the front and have a lighter oil in the rear and basically lock the center.

Now do a search here as there are many schools of thought on this but I like:

500k front
300k rear
Ofna locking silicone in the center....

Almost gives it a crawler feel.....now if I could just stay off the throttle. ;)

But to each his own,Bash and climb on!!!!

If I go with that set up I will definitely buy a second center diff. Yep, I am aware that I am running 3 diffs lol....That sounds like an interesting set up....With the Resonator Pipe it, the punch in that motor is something special....however, as you say, getting on the throttle has been responsible for many of my new dents, cracks and scratches...lol. Finding the precise amount of throttle is part of the fun? LOL. Anyway, I may just run that set up when I pick up a second center diff...On that note...whats the diffence between the FOC and the Center Diff? How does a FOC work as far as putting power to the wheels?

Yeah, right. Stay off the throttle. This must be in the same vein as "The check is in the mail." j/k Talon.
