This question has probably been asked 1000 times so make this 1001. What is a good running temp for my stock savage 25? Any help is appreciated.

Ok what plug are you using? What fuel percentage are you using? What is the ambient temps in your area when running? Running with a Body or no?

Standard you want to run at around 250-260 tops IMO. Some will say different.

Standard stock plug, 20%, 60 degrees, w/body. I have been running at 180- 195 and it felt like everything was right.

That temp is a bit low. It's not allowing for the piston to expand and will cause premature wear on the engine. Take the temp when the fuel reaches about 1/2 full. Try to get that temp to at lest 230 degrees. That way, when the engine starts leaning out becuase of less fuel (it's normal) you will still be in operating range and not risk over heating.

Keep checking your temps though. Don't want to burn a perfectly good engine by accident.

The instructions that came with my 4.6 say 200 to 275. I would say 200 is to low. I agree that anything lower does not let your sleeve and piston expand and will where out much quicker. To me my other engines perform the best from around 240 to 265. I do not like to run over 275.
