Yep, yet another project. :juggle:

So, as I am tearing down the baja, I get to the engine mount bolts underneath, and cannot break the damn things loose. I got one out (used the T-style allen that came with the baja) but busted a knuckle when it snapped loose. I stripped a head out, I put so much pressure on it. The one I got out looked to have quite a bit of loctite on the threads. Makes me wonder if heat would help or not...

I also noticed that the bushing where the input shaft goes in the transmission is really worn out. I can wobble the shaft up and down to either end of the case hole. Good thing FastEddy sent me a bearing for that!

Parts that I am putting in include (but are not limited to):

30.5cc ESP Mod/Race Ported stroker kit with stuffed crank
Turtle Racing diff saver and HD dogbone kit
Turtle Racing aluminum clutch bell and 18t pinion
Metal Gear steering servo upgrade kit
ATX Windshield, side windows, and skid
Bash Busters
Custom Painted lid (Was going to have NC Nitro do it, but he isn't available for a while, so I need to get someone else).

Yeah I had the same problem with my engine bolts also . They had WAY too much red loctite on them . I broke 3 allen wrenches on the dam things . Finally got them out with one of the little wrenches that came in my ss screw kit I got from FastEddy. Well and I had to use a hammer !!

You might try putting a smaller hex wrench on the screw and heating the screw and wrench. This is sometimes very helpful.

Well, I finally got it out this morning. I ended up slotting out the head of the bolt with a dremel and cut-off wheel. I guess it got heated up pretty good because it was fairly easy to break loose.

Glad to see you got it out.
Did you get the full bearing kit from me? I forgot.....
If so, there are diff upgrade bearings in it for when you install the Turtle case.
If you need some, LMK and Ill take care of you.

Well, I get this far and find out I forgot to order a Flywheel puller. Also find out 2 of the fins on my flywheel are cracked. Oh well, found another couple things I need to get as well! Daves Motors, here I come! Ed, I will PM about bearings.

Heat usually works very well on red lock tite, I learned that the hard way with an Apache servo.

Well, got a little bit of work done tonight. I finally picked up a flywheel puller and tore down the engine. I oiled it up, and slid the new parts in, and they all went in perfectly. Very similar to nitros (except for the case splitting and piston ring). I have a new HPI gunmetal chassis and OFF rear CF chassis plate waiting to be assembled with the rest of the vehicle. Should be fun!

I tore down tranny (wow, 3 gears, hah). Found it to be a very simple job. The bearing that Ed puts in his kit for the top shaft makes it MUCH more supported than that of the stock whatever that is. The Turtle Racing diff saver and TR outdrives were installed as well. So far, everything is going great!

Well, almost done. Just need to dye the rims and glue the tires.
