I am pretty sure it's the same as the Hakko 936. Made by Hakko and re-branded by Team Checkpoint.
 
Oh ok, actually I see the email for the manufacturer is *****@hobbico, so that explains that....So conclusion, worth it more than likely?
 
Well I have a Hakko 936 and would not trade it for anything.

Makes every solder job a breeze and is reasonably priced for what you get.

I didn't know how I ever did my soldering when I was using the POS I had before that took forever to heat up.
 
Ok thanks, I'm gonna pick it up then. What do you guys use for the "third hand"? I've just used a small vice but its not the easy to work with/around.

yep, i have a fairly good one that is just a cordless one and it runs on butane but i have the second helper hands things that rob mentioned with the magnifier and it works great, i dont need it cause I'm 13 and have good eyes but my dad is like blind and needs it especially for our slot cars with tiny parts. heres mine:

For sure this is one of the best investments I've made in rc's so far! I can't believe how much easier it is now than it was before with my cheap gun.
 
I use an electric soldering gun that you can buy at home depot.. I forgot how much it costs.. but it's inexpensive and heats up fairly fast. It's one that only heats when you have the trigger in. I also have this thing that has two spring loaded clips and a magnifying glass, it's adjustable for different work angles.. it works just fine for me.
