That exactly what I was going to do with the grill in mine. Its still sitting from purchase way before the re-release of this kit though. I bought it used. And it needs some extensive body work.

Now that I see the results of this one it puts me in the mood to do it. lol!
Nice work on it. Good tips too. Never thought of using a nail file.

The nail file actually fits through the grille slats perfectly, it makes sanding down the sides really quite easy.

Thanks Lloyd, it's important to me to take your time on the body, it's the first thing anyone will see when looking at your rig. I don't want mine to look rushed and sloppy, so I would rather take a little longer to get it done, but have it done right.

By the way, it's not a nail file or an Emory board. It's a modeling tool. TOOL. It's a TOOL....and don't let your wife tell you otherwise when she tries to take it back.

Yea this is very true. lol! How girly of me to say nail file. What the hell was I thinking during the day. loL! Too much searching for my next guitar amp I guess. Not thinking straight here.

Now, for tips on something I never heard of....
What's the story on the upholstery thread?

You can use thread to cut hard bodies. It makes a nice thin cut without removing a lot of material, and it is fairly easy to keep a straight line as you cut. It is really good if you want to say make a hood open on something like the Jeep or Clod body, it is easy to keep it in the body mold grooves., and it won't remove too much material like a dremel would, leaving huge gaps when you would put the hood back in place.

I just got another one of these YJ bodies and plan on making the hard top removable, so I will definitely use thread to cut the top off. I might make the hood open on it too.

This is my 1:1, I will be getting a hard top for it before winter. I have also replaced the mirrors with windshield hinge mount mirrors, and removed the end caps from the bumper since I took this pic.
