can someone please help!! when i am ever on a street or in rocks my tmaxx will shift but when i go into the grass it will not shift it is like it is stuck in one gear but right after i get out of the grass it shifts what is wrong???

It's working really hard in the grass, and can't come up to the speed required to shift. If you think the engine is still reaching high RPMs in the grass, then it's your slipper clutch that's too loose.

If its a 3.3 it should still work.

If its a 2.5 or a 1.8 then yea, your not going fast enough to shift.

You can try tightening the clutch, or losening the shift point.

Otherwise just stay out of the grass. It does make the engine work harder and can cause heat problems as well.

Agreed Knall, if you run grass alot I highly suggest purchasing a temp gauge/reader. I ran my 3.3 through grass ALOT, after a gallon or so i grabbed a Temp gauge and realized I was running 340 on speedy grass runs (YIKES!!). Especially for a RWD truck your losing a fair amount of your speed to wheel spin. My 4WD Slayer didn't suffer to bad though, grip wise.

As well Rolex is right on the money, I run a nice tight clutch when on grass, be careful not to over tighten, or land jumps under heavy throttle. Your should be able to find a happy medium though.

As well it may be necessary to lower your shift point while in grass. I Changed my transmissions shift point to shift a tad sooner, which seemed to help shifting.

Here's a page from traxxas support site:
Model does not shift into second gear

1 Engine not tuned for peak RPM
Tune the 2.5 / 3.3 or Pro .15 engine for performance

2 Slipper clutch is set too loose or is damaged
Tighten or repair slipper clutch

3 Transmission shift hub requires adjustment
Adjust the shift hub counterclockwise to lower the shift point (shift sooner) until the shift point is fine tuned. Refer to the owners manual for details on your model.

4 2-speed hub loose on shaft
Tighten 2spd hub onto shaft (Maxx trucks), or verify that the hub pin is present inside the shift hub. The hub must be securely fastened to the shaft.
