t-maxx tuining problem

less than a montrh old tmaxx and I'm new to thew nitro world. was running mint last week took out today and its taking off on me without useing throttle the rev needle is almost all the way out, and keeps stalling on me when i hit brake i thought it was too lean so i richened it but it still wont stay running i set high needle to 4 and low to 2 but no luck, I'm lost!! please help

thanks i appreciate it i read the forum but i can't keep it running for a few passes and my first concern is that is driveing on its own i thought this would be the idle but it seems like its way to far out as it is

Sounds like low batteries could be in the mix as well. A rechargeable nimh receiver pack helps with this. More current to the servos and no more buying alkalines as well. If your Maxx came with a pack, make sure it's charging all of the way. Should take about an hour, and the pack should be warm to the touch.

t-maxx factory settings

can someone tell me what the factory setting are for the tmaxx includeing the idle, i have the high needle at 4 and low at 2 but dont know what the idle is

In the link I gave you, there's a photo of a carb and it's needles. Reset them to factory settings, and close the idle to what you see in the illustration. That's your starting point, and we'll go from there if it still gives you trouble.
Before setting the idle, turn the trim knob all the way down and adjust the idle screw while holding the trigger in the brake position.

thanks guys the tuining flowchart worked good so far i got it running good just can't get the idle down yet but it got to cold out thanks alot for the help

If the idle is screaming there might be an air leak. Check every single hose and the tank to make sure it's all sealed.

Yep, and make sure it isn't just a simple trim adjustment as well. Do what Rolex said to ensure that the slide is returning to the idle screw. Then adjust your brakes from there.

The idle will not go as low as it should if you have a leak in the system, but before you take the engine apart, get the engine to running temp and slightly richen the LSN. Changes on that can affect the idle RPM.
Cold weather makes it tough to get a good tune.
