Okay guys got a diff truck in for repair. My Brother bought a older 2.5 Tmaxx off egay. After installing the engine, the trans will not pull. Spur just spins like crazy never incages the trans. I have tore it down inspected everything. And everything checks OK. The one way bearing is working correctly, all gears good. The set screw that holds the spring and bearing is tight, The set screw for the shift point adjustment is there. The set screw in the bottom gear is tight. I have cleaned and cleaned trans did not help. What else could I look for. And I am not sure how to explain this the, piece that holds the set screws for the shift point adjustment easily removable, I am not sure if you shoukld be able to pull that right off or if it should be locked onto the shaft. :(

It should be locked to the shaft with the set screw that is straight (not angled, the angled screw with the spring and BB is for the shift point adjustment). There is a notch in the shaft where the set screw should align with to lock it to the shaft.
That wouldn’t keep the truck from moving in 1st gear though, the 2nd gear clutch only comes into play for the shift change and you should have 1st gear even if the 2nd gear clutch was missing completely.
Check the forward/reverse primary gear pin/screw (two smallest gears on the middle shaft).

Okay worked on this trans all evening still no go. I just can't figure this one out. I checked all the shift pawls they are all working correctly. I am getting tired of installing trans and it not working then pulling off the truck. Is there a way of testing it so I do not have to keep taking it off and putting it back onto the truck. I have never had this much prob with a maxx trans before.

I test them with compressed air blown on the spur gear.
You can hear and feel the shift change.
