You can step up a tooth or two on the clutch bell. That's about all a Maxx will handle. Most people gear down a bit to achieve more torque.

gearing up gives more speed but not as much torqe off the line

gearing down gives you more torqe but less speed

I'd like to know what you mean by using the jato gear. Clutch or spur? There's a bunch of different size gears you can pick up for the T Maxx. Setting up a T maxx for top end isn't the most useful thing to do to it. It may be fine on the pavement but you'll lose a ton of off road capability. If your set on trying to achieve more top end for the street, a good set of on road tires is a must. If the street is the only place you have to run, an on road vehicle is more up your alley.

I just geared my maxx up for the hell of it. You'll regret it. It does go a little faster but you lose a LOT of bottom end. It takes all the fun out of it. 20/54 seems to be a sweet spot for me. I'm still not getting crazy wheelies like I think I should be but thats another thread.....
