what would i have to do to turn my t-maxx into an s-maxx. i know i dont have to do anything to the suspension but would i have to get a new tranny for the 2wd system?

my tmaxx is an smaxx all that needed to be done was to take out the front gearbox and the arm connecting it to the tranny. then its a smaxx i believe. thats what was dont to mine to make it 2wd.

Take out the two front driveshafts. Take them apart at the outer u-joint and reinstall the 2 stub shafts and wheels. Then take out all of the front center shaft except for the piece that the brake rides on. You'll have a 2-wheel drive t-maxx....pretty much an s-maxx.

The S-maxx is the stadium truck version of the tmaxx. Out of the box, they came with the 2.5 engine, forward only trans, and were 2wd trucks.

Yeah I don't know much about 'em. They look the same, but I don't know if they have different axle carriers and a-arms up front or what the deal is. IMO it's a serious downgrade...:hehe:

how do i take apart the u-joints?

The old ones just pry apart. Traxxas used to include the tool to do it with the old Maxx's. It's just a flat piece of silver metal with a fork in it.
