Hey guys, can anyone tell me what the best shock/spring combo works good for my t-maxx thanks

Personally....(I know others will chime in as well) but I would say Traxxas Big Bore shocks with RC Raven Dual rate Blue springs with 30-35wt oil in the shocks. That is what I would get. If I had my ultimate CHOICE I would say Proline Power Stroke but they are super hard to find and will cost you $125+ if you do find them. So realisticlly...Big Bores.

Yeah, I just picked up a set of the Traxxas Big Bores on boxing day, and for the money, they are great! They dont have the threaded adjustment that some more expensive shocks would have, but IMO thats not a big deal. I took off my white progressive rate springs from my stockers, and put them on the 4 outer shocks. I also bought some of the RPM shock shaft covers, which are also a good investment at $10 for 4.

Also, one thing to note: I used the shock oil that comes with the Big Bores, and when used with the stock red springs that come installed on the BB's, the oil/spring combo is pretty weak. But, when I installed the progressive springs, they seem to make a big difference when used with the sotck BB oil.

Do what Joey said, with 30, 40, or 50 wt oil.

Proline powerstrokes are 225 on ebay right now! Although I think there's a few pieces missing.:hehe:

Compared to a set of 4 1/8th scale buggy shocks the power strokes are a joke.
Well that is a given. However the power strokes we made specifically for the Maxx. But yeah some buggy shocks do the trick as well. i am just un-sure of which ones are the correct length.

That depends on the shock towers you use.

A much better and cheaper setup than the over priced/over rated power strokes (I’ve owned 2 sets and rate them just slightly better than a set of BB shocks with appropriate spring/oil) are;
UE knucklehead towers and UE super shocks.
Another popular shock is the Ofna LX1 rear buggy shocks, but again you need an after market tower like the UE knuckle heads or the FLM to have a higher shock mounting position to take advantage of the longer shocks and not hinder either the up or down articulation.
The power stokes are pretty much obsolete and they demand a high price now due to being scarce like most hard to find parts do.

Thanks to all for the input, I ordered some BB shocks that are adjustable I'm going to play around with oil/springs see what I come up with, my ultimate goal is to make an original t max something with a turbine engine or real working after burner something cool, so until then thanks and keep up the good work guys.

Oh come on now, jay leno has a motorcycle with a turbine eng, why can't I have a turbine powered t maxx. Just dreaming , but all your help with the shocks has really answered my questions thanks again
